The Derby Daredevils: Kenzie Kickstarts a Team By Kit Rosewater and illustrated by Sophie Escabasse is an upcoming Amulet Books release. Luciana V had taken a bit of a small break from her reading, but this book caught her attention and she loved it. This was also the first time that we were able to have her pick her own questions to answer about the book and we got some great ones. Great to see a book about roller-derby for the kids.

What was your favorite part of the book?

My favorite part of the book was the end, so I dont want to give anything away. Let’s just say it involves…well you will just have to read it an see.

What character are you most like?

I would say I have a lot in common with Shelly because I like to make everyone feel included

If you could describe the book in one word what would it be?

It would be the word “Passion” because Kenzie and Shelly go through all that trouble just to get to their dream of being on a roller derby team

If you could create a different title for the book what would it be?

I would change the title to, “The Dynamic Duo And The Roller Derby Stars”

If you could pick out a roller derby name for yourself would it be?

I would choose the name “Crusher” because I try as hard as I can in any sport I try.
