Eliza Pryor is killing it on Team Kaylie as a series regulars, portraying Valeria on Netflix’s new series, which also stars Bryana Salaz, Rosi Blasi, and Symera Jackson. Team Kaylie is about a celebrity teen billionaire finding herself in trouble with the law, and has to lead an inner-city wilderness camp as her sentence. Eliza also has worked on some video games and has been a guest star on some popular shows. Let’s get started and learn a bit more about this marvelous actress.

BSCKids: You play a very unique character, tell us a bit about her?

Eliza Pryor: Yes she is very unique! Valeria is a wannabe witch that loves everything witches and vampires. She’s a bit of a loner and people call her a weirdo. What I love about her is that she knows it and actually loves it when people call her that.
How did your audition go?

I actually first auditioned for the role of Jackie which is the complete opposite of Valeria! Later in the audition process they asked me to audition for both Valeria and Jackie and I felt more like Valeria. With Valeria I became a completely different person and it was a lot of fun to play this crazy character. They hired my friend, Symera Jackson, for Jackie who is perfect for that role.

What is your favorite characteristic of Valeria and how do you get in character?

She doesn’t care what others think and is very sarcastic and funny. When I read the script, I tried to act like a person who doesn’t care what people think. When I went over my lines, I imagined I’m in full costume and visualized myself on set. When I have on the full costume, I feel like it’s easy and almost natural to transform into her.

If you had to work with a “real” teen celebrity for the wilderness camp, who would it be and why?

Gaten Matarazzo. He is so funny and if I’m going to be out in the wilderness I want to be laughing.

Are there any funny behind the scenes stories you can tell us?

I feel like there was a lot of behind the scenes physical humor. In one scene, Bryana was supposed to pick me up and when she tried she collapsed and we both fell to the floor. In another scene Bryana was flinging her stilettos and one flew off and almost hit Kai (Ray Ray) in the face. Every time something like that happened, we all just laughed hard.

What is the hardest acting scene you have done so far in your career and why?

When I was ten, one of my first jobs was a film called Spinning Man. I played the daughter of a professor that was thought to have played a part in a young girl’s disappearance. She was conflicted because she loved her dad but also had her doubts. There was a really emotional scene where I had to confront him about it and I had to really dig deep to give the director the raw emotion he wanted. I’m really proud of how it turned out.

If you could guest star on any Netflix series which one would it be and why?

Stranger Things for sure. The show is amazing. The storyline is unique and the writing and acting are incredible. Also, the cast seems to have a really good time together.

You have done some video game work as well, tell us about that and what your favorite video game is?

The remake of Resident Evil 2 was a fun experience and I learned so much from it. They recorded my voice but also my body motion using a motion capture suit. It was a little like wearing a superhero suit. The director and other actors were amazing and I really learned a lot from them. My favorite game is Minecraft and it’s a game my brother and I like to play together.

What is something that people would be surprised to find out about you?

Most people are surprised when they find out I’m actually really shy in person. When I’m performing I become a different person.

How did you feel when you found out that Season 1 Part 2 would be airing?

I was so excited!!! I love the later episodes. I can’t wait for everyone to see them on December 2nd!

Who do you feel has taught you the most in your acting career?

It’s hard to answer that question with a one person answer. I study and train all the time. I have gone to so many seminars, studied in different classes at Zak Barnett Studios in L.A. and have learned even more from the other actors and directors I have worked with in my career, especially on the Team Kaylie set. I even find myself studying actors in the movies and TV shows that I watch.

In 10 words or less, why should everyone tune in and watch Team Kaylie?

It’s hilarious, entertaining, and such a great show!!!!!!!

Is there anything else coming up in your career that you can tell us about?

Again, I’m so excited about Part 2 of Team Kaylie dropping on Netflix December 2nd! I’m also part of a kids’ acapella group called Acapop! KIDS. The group was founded by the creators of Pentatonix and the group launched with Warner Records on October 18th. The kids in the group are from all over the country and they are so amazingly talented. More videos continue to drop and we are creating more!

We learned a lot about the amazing Eliza Pryor and appreciate her time. Make sure to tune into the Part 2 of Team Kaylie in December.
