CRICKET GREEN, GRAMMA ALICE, BILL GREEN
Big City Greens “Green Christmas” is coming on December 7th, but we were able to watch it already and we are going to the most appropriate thing with a special of this magnitude. Not talk about the story at all. The special is so good that you should not know anything about it beforehand so you can experience it yourself, but what we will talk about all the fun things we enjoyed about it without ruining anything.
In our interview with Shane and Chris about Big City Greens, they do talk about the special and how they would like it to be a Christmas Classic. To me this means something that would be on a holiday watch list year after year, even after Big City Greens come to an end. We would say that with this goal in mind, that they have put together a special that will stand the test of time and should be seen every year during the holiday season. Shane and Chris are super smart and this episode really shows that by how they have blended tradition, Easter Eggs, and the Green family into the holidays.
While you might not think that this is the top reason this screams classic holiday show, let me tell you the background music, no not the songs, set such a holiday stage that it immediately makes you feel like you are watching a holiday show that has already stood the test of time. Nostalgia in that background music hits hard. The brothers don’t stop though, they give us all sorts of Easter Eggs that hearken back to some older holiday shows, holiday songs that are memorable in tune and animation, and there is one part with candy canes that is really a throw back. There are moments in the show where we felt like we were watching Rankin/Bass show and we really don’t think there can be any higher praise.
The story, well again we won’t actually talk about it, but we will tell you it is good, nay great so make sure to tune in to watch. There are two distinct stories between one with the adults and one with the kids that come together to make you feel the holiday spirit. You can watch Big City Greens “Green Christmas” on December 7th and make sure to watch it a few times as the holidays roll around.
