Sky Katz has been someone who we have been able to see her career blossom as we first spoke to her before she started on Raven’s Home and we jumped at the chance to talk to this fun star once again. This time around we did get to hear her thoughts on her show and find out more of what she has going on outside of the show.

BSCKids: Sky we had a great video interview from you in December of 2016 after America’s Got Talent, how do you feel like you have changed from that time to now?

Sky Katz: So much has changed since America’s Got Talent, it’s crazy! I’ve been living most of the time in LA, I’ve been lucky enough to be playing Tess for three seasons on Disney Channel’s Ravens Home, I’ve been making and releasing tons of music and so many other exciting things.

BSCKids: Tell us a bit about how you came up with your new song “Saucy” and why you are looking forward to co-headlining with Annie LeBlanc?

Sky Katz: Saucy is a fun bop that’s about having swag and confidence and reminding girls that we can easily keep up with the boys in whatever we do! The show with Annie is coming up in NYC on June 15th and it’s going to be a blast! I love Annie and working together Is so much fun. We’re going to chat with our fans, perform for them and just have a great time together.

BSCKids: Tell us a bit about filming the video for “Saucy.”

Sky Katz: Filming the video was awesome. For me, performing my music, playing basketball and dancing with friends is like the perfect afternoon and that’s what we were doing!

BSCKids: How did you get the opportunity to do “Party With Me” for Disney Channel’s film, Kim Possible?

Sky Katz: A Disney music executive offered me the opportunity and I was so excited and so grateful. Sitting in the audience at the movie and hearing my voice on the screen was beyond amazing.

BSCKids: How do you feel that you have grown as an actress from Season 1 to Season 3 of Raven’s Home?

Sky Katz: I’ve learned so much in these years. Raven and Anneliese have taught me all about timing, getting into character and so many other valuable things that I will always be grateful for.

BSCKids: How are you and your character of Tess familiar and different? How do you get in character for the show?

Sky Katz: We are similar in some ways like loving our friends and saying what we’re thinking, but we’re different in regards to our families. Tess’ family is kind of wacky and mine is pretty “normal”. I get in character by asking myself “how would Tess be feeling right now? or “What would she be thinking about?”

BSCKids: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Sky Katz: People would be surprised to know that I love art. I draw and paint on set in between scenes, at home…whenever I can.

BSCKids: Which episode was your favorite on the first two seasons of Raven’s Home?

Sky Katz: The season 2 musical episode, “Raven’s Home: Remix” has been my favorite because I got to rap and show that side of me to our audience.

BSCKids: Why should everyone tune in to watch the third season of Raven’s Home?

Sky Katz: The third season returns June 17th and is everything you’ve loved from the first two seasons, but even more of it. It will include themes of finding your creative outlet and pursuing that passion. Tess, Nia and Booker form a music group called ‘The Chi-Lective’ and the season will feature 7 original songs performed by the group.

BSCKids: What else do you have coming up in the future that you can talk about?

Sky Katz: I’ve got more music coming out this year that I think people are going to love.

Special thanks to Sky Katz for taking the time out of her busy schedule to talk to us, and make sure to check out an early Sky interview we did below.

Have three kids, two boys (18 and 16) and a girl (12). I had a grandfather that watched cartoons and read the Sunday funnies until he passed. I feel the same way and continue to watch the Disney channel in my 40s. Check out our BSCKids youtube channel Current favorite show is Amphibia.
