It is always fun to see a talented artist at the start of their career, and while Penelope Robin has musical talent in her family, she shines bright on her own. We had the opportunity to ask her some questions about her career and her music.
Penelope Robin began acting at age 5 and since then has developed a true passion for the arts. Most recently she stole the hearts of young Colombian fans when was invited to share the stage with acclaimed Colombian singer Karol G, as well as Puerto Rican singers Yandel, and Cosculluela during the CEG Festival 2017 that took place in Colombia. Penelope’s single’s such as “Little Bitty Heart”, “Lollipops”, and “LIT” are loved by all ages with her most recent single “Sigo Soñando” hitting over 4 million views on YouTube. Currently she is recording the rest of her album which will be released in 2019.
BSCKids: Penelope tell us a little bit about your start in the music business and how your family has helped with that.
Penelope Robin: Well, my dad is a music producer and I would always see artists singing their hearts out in the studio. My amazing mom is a video director and I would see the artists performing and chasing their dreams, and that’s exactly what I wanted to do! So one day I grabbed my dad pretty much forced him to work with me…lol It was amazing though and we made my first single, “Little Bitty Heart”. After that I just loved making music more than anything in the world.
BSCKids: Your Some Girls video looks great…how much input did you have in the look and feel of the video?
Penelope Robin: Thank you so much! When I found out we were going to Prague for the Holidays I thought it would be the perfect location to shoot the video, because Prague is so beautiful! I had gone online and googled all the best places to visit and I was blown away with how gorgeous the city is. So I told my parents and my brother (who loves to fly drones) if we could shoot a music video while we were there and they said “Why Not!?” haha and there it is…I did a video in Prague! lol
BSCKids: What does an average day in your life look like?
Penelope Robin: I usually start my day off with school work and working on my music in the studio with my dad. In the afternoons I play tennis, and in the evenings I unwind by picking up my guitar and writing new songs. We also hang out A LOT as a family….we love to chill and watch movies on the weekends and go out and explore what’s new in Miami.
BSCKids: Tell us something that people would be surprised to know about you?
Penelope Robin: I think most people would be surprised to know that I went to the Junior Olympics for swimming, it was SO much fun! I didn’t do so good but it was still a pretty cool experience. 🙂
BSCKids: If you could guest star on any television show, which one would it be and why? What is your favorite YouTube channel to watch?
Penelope Robin: I would love to be on The Ellen Show! Ellen Degeneres is so awesome and I would be honored to meet her! My favorite YouTube channel to watch is Brat…I really like all their shows.
BSCKids: Who have you enjoyed working with the most and who would you like to work with in the future in the music industry?
Penelope Robin: I really enjoyed working with SHAIRA (@Shaira_oficial), she was awesome. Love you, amiga, hehe! In the future I would love to work with Bruno Mars, he is one of my favorite artists.
BSCKids: Can you tell us about any other hobbies that you have outside of your music and acting career?
Penelope Robin: Music and acting are definitely my #1 passions, but I always make time to try new things. In fact, I just started playing tennis and I am loving it!
BSCKids: What can we expect from you in the next few months?
Penelope Robin: I’ve been very busy in the studio so you can expect A LOT of new songs from me, stay tuned!
