Roman Christou, a Santa Barbara native, was kind enough to talk to us about the new super scary movie, The Curse of La Llorona, where he plays Chris. The movie will be hitting the theaters on April 19th and we loved getting a chance to speak with him about the film.

Roman will make his feature film debut as Chris in the upcoming Warner Brothers horror film, The Curse of La Llorona, which will be hitting theaters April 19th. The story depicts the urban legend of La Llorona, the ghost of a woman who lost her children and now cries while looking for them in the river, often causing misfortune to those who are near or hear her. Ignoring the eerie warning of a troubled mother suspected of child endangerment, a social worker and her own small kids are soon drawn into a frightening supernatural realm. His mother in the film is played by actress Linda Cardellini. The cast also includes Sean Patrick Thomas, Patricia Velasquez, Marisol Ramirez, and Raymond Cruz.

BSCKids: Roman, we just watched the trailers for The Curse of La Llorona and in the middle of the day we were scared. Tell us about your character in the movie and how you don’t freak out while they are filming.

Roman Christou: Chris is my character, the son of Linda Cardellini and brother to Jaynee-Lynne Kitchen. He plays the role as the protector of the family. Scary scenes are discussed prior to filming.

BSCKids: How did you get the role in the film?

Roman Christou: I spent the majority of time going over the finer parts of the scene during the audition. I believe I nailed the scenes, perhaps part of the hard work is good luck!

BSCKids: Are you a horror fan in general? If so do you have a favorite movie

Roman Christou: The Curse of La Llorona is my favorite horror movie! I wasn’t a huge fan before filming. Now I have understanding and a new respect for horror movies.

BSCKids: Were there any fun behind the scenes things that happened during filming that you can tell us about?

Roman Christou: One day a real energy healer (Curandero) came on set and brought along feathers, sage and various other things to cleanse our energy field of negativity. That was a first for me!

BSCKids: What is something people would be surprised to find out about you

Roman Christou: I go to a school that takes five trips per year. We mountain bike, kayak, backpack through the mountains and do various other cool things. Our campfires are the best!

BSCKids: What sort of music do you like to make? Do you have anything on Soundcloud?

Roman Christou: I enjoy hip hop and pop. Also, I love Stevie Wonder. I haven’t professionally produced anything yet.

BSCKids: Is there is anything else you are working on that you can tell us about?

Roman Christou: You just have to stay tuned.

BSCKids: Tell us why everyone should go see The Curse of La Llorona and what they can do if they get too scared while watching!

Roman Christou: I believe it’s great to learn about a folklore. that has been around for such a long time in the Latin community. If you get scared just plug your ears!

Look these trailers are so scary that we don’t want to even embed them here. If you are feeling up to it you can click-through to watch Roman in a clip for The Curse of La Llorona here. Roman does a great job acting in the film, so if you feel confident enough to click-through, go watch him. We appreciate Roman’s time and wish him success in all of his work.
