Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal: World of Myth & Magic exhibit at The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta was amazing as we got a glimpse at the animatronic prototypes as well as the puppets that brought The Dark Crystal movie to life.

As you walk into the area where the characters are you are greeted by a display of the crystal and are then transported to the world of Thra. There are many different characters on display including Jen, Podlings (Pod People), Skeksis, Aughra and they all look stunning in person.

While looking at the characters there are also a lot of fun things to read about the movie and the puppets. There were a few screens around that were running video about making the movie as well as screen with some information about the new upcoming show The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance which will air on Netflix.

Immerse yourself in a world of fantastical creatures and pure imagination. It is the world of Jim Henson’s visionary masterpiece, The Dark Crystal. View the original Brian Froud artwork, animatronic prototypes, and the mythical puppets that inhabit the world of Thra. See the intricate artistry that went into the creation of this cult film classic and understand the film’s lasting influence on some of the most popular adult fantasy works today. With support from Ms. Cheryl Henson.

Take a look at some of the pictures from the exhibit below:

You can find more information about The Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta at http://www.puppet.org/

We also got to see the Jim Henson Collection as the museum which included some of our favorites from Fraggle Rock and other Jim Henson shows. You know it is a good day when you get to see Sprocket lounging around as well as being able to visit Sesame Street. The other fun item was the area where they show you how they film some of the shows with puppets and you get to have a chance at watching yourself on camera while trying to use a puppet.

Have three kids, two boys (18 and 16) and a girl (12). I had a grandfather that watched cartoons and read the Sunday funnies until he passed. I feel the same way and continue to watch the Disney channel in my 40s. Check out our BSCKids youtube channel Current favorite show is Amphibia.
