When we saw the casting and the pictures for the Live-action “Kim Possible” Disney Channel Original Movie it was intriguing but we had to take some time to figure out how we really felt about it. Now that we have thought about it let us talk about the casting as that is really all that we know about right now.
The pictures in the article show Connie Ray as Nana Possible, Erika Tham as Bonnie Rockwaller, Alyson Hannigan as Dr. Ann Possible, Issac Ryan Brown as Wade Load, Sadie Stanley as Kim Possible, Sean Giambrone as Ron Stoppable, Ciara Wilson as Athena, Taylor Ortega as Shego, and Todd Stashwick as Dr. Drakken. Based on these casting calls we are pretty darn excited. While we have Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg in our head, we still think the casting was spot on. He pretty much has to play a similar personality as we know he is good at from The Goldbergs. Alyson Hannigan has the perfect voice and inflections for Dr. Ann Possible and we think that Issac Ryan Brown will fit well as Wade. Sadie Stanley will have a chance to wow us with this movie as we really haven’t seen or heard her much yet. Same can be said about Erika Tham as we don’t know all that much about her. Connie Ray has a nice resume so we are not worried about her at all. Ciara Wilson we will see on Coop and Cami Ask the World and we have seen her on Speechless and Bizaardvark as the famous Vicki ‘Hot Head’ Fuego so we are pretty confident there. She is a rising star for sure. Overall a solid effort on casting.
Other than what we have from the casting news we have the following information on the story itself:
“Kim Possible” begins as Kim and her best friend and sidekick, Ron Stoppable, start Middleton High School where Kim must navigate an intimidating new social hierarchy. She is ready to tackle the challenge head-on, just as she has with everything else in life, but her confidence is shaken when she faces roadblocks at every turn—getting lost in the confusing hallways, being late to class and facing rejection during soccer tryouts from her frenemy, Bonnie. Kim’s day starts to turn around when she and Ron meet and befriend Athena, a new classmate and Kim Possible superfan who is having an even worse day than Kim. With Kim’s guidance and friendship, Athena transforms into the newest member of Team Possible. Soon, Athena starts to eclipse Kim just as the nefarious Drakken and Shego resurface in Middleton with a master plan to finally stop Kim. Now it’s up to Team Possible—Kim, Ron, tech-genius Wade, new friend Athena and Rufus, a Naked mole-rat that Ron meets along the way—to stop these super villains.
Totally on board with what we have above on story. They haven’t tried to make this movie into something that it is not, this is Kim Possible animated form turning into live-action. We are so looking forward to her interactions with Bonnie and how Athena becomes part of Team Possible. Overall we are super excited for the premiere on FRIDAY, FEB. 15 (8:00–9:32 p.m. EST/PST), on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW.
