With Season Three of the Chicken Girls now available on Brat’s YouTube Channel as well as Chicken Girls: The Movie being released Kelsey Leon has been busy. BSCKids got the opportunity to speak with Kelsey about her role on the show as well as her career.
Kelsey Leon is an actress, dancer and model that is known for her role as ‘Kimmie & Power Surge Dancer’ in Brat’s wildly successful YouTube web series, “Chicken Girls” and Chicken Girls the Movie, both streaming on Brat’s YouTube Channel. Her previous acting credits include guest roles in Nickelodeon’s “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn” and Amazon’s “Just Add Magic”.
BSCKids: How did you get involved in Chicken Girls? Did they have auditions?
Kelsey Leon: I got directly booked by Brooke Butler’s mom, Nicole. She reached out to us in season one to be a dancer on the rival dance team. They did hold auditions for some of the characters in season one.
BSCKids: Do you have anything in common with your character Kimmie in the show?
Kelsey Leon: Yes, we are both dancers. 🙂
BSCKids: Who are you most friendly with from the show?
Kelsey Leon: In the show, my character is friends with my dance team, PowerSurge. In real life, we’re all friends 🙂 including our rival dance team.
BSCKids: Do you get any input on what you get to wear for the show?
Kelsey Leon: No. When we go to set, the wardrobe department usually has wardrobe assigned for each character.

BSCKids: What has been your favorite scene from Chicken Girls so far – the TV show or the movie?
Kelsey Leon: Definitely our last dance scene in the movie where both rival teams join to become one.
BSCKids: Any funny behind the scenes stories you can tell us about while filming?
Kelsey Leon: There are so many, especially when we’re on breaks. We have made the craziest handshakes, random words, and so many funny memories that we’ll all never forget.
BSCKids: Tell us how your dancing career got started?
Kelsey Leon: I started dance when I was two years old. I competed my first solo at the age of six. I was with a studio until I was 12, then at the age of 13, I became an independent dancer traveling to different competitions and conventions without a studio 🙂
BSCKids: How has your family supported your career?
Kelsey Leon: They’ve supported me in so many ways. When I was in my competition years, my Dad was one of my dance coaches. He warmed me up before I went on stage and ran my solo. My mom drives me everywhere. She supports me every day by taking me to practice my craft. Both of my parents are amazing and support my journey 100%.
BSCKids: Do you find dancing, acting or modeling to be the hardest for you?
Kelsey Leon: All of them take work ethic, determination, and passion. I don’t find one of them harder than the rest. I love all of them. 🙂
BSCKids: Do you spend more time watching cable television or content on YouTube/the digital space? Do you think you spend more time watching things on your phone than you do a regular television these days?
Kelsey Leon: It depends. When I’m on the go, I always watch YouTube and Netflix, but when I’m home, I love watching cable TV on the big screen. I definitely spend more time watching things on my phone as we’re never home. However, I do like watching TV at home so much better.
BSCKids: What sort of music are you listening to right now?
Kelsey Leon: Pop Music. Oh, and sometimes 80’s Music because that’s what my mom listens to in the car. 🙂
BSCKids: What is something you never leave the house without?
Kelsey Leon: My phone.
BSCKids: Tell us what your favorite Instagram post of yours is and why? Also, what are the top two YouTube channels you watch?
Kelsey Leon: Hmmm…that’s a good question. I have a ton of favorite Instagram posts, I couldn’t pick one. My top two YouTube Channels that I always watch are Alisha Marie & Niki/Gabi.
BSCKids: If you could be on someone else’s YouTube Channel which one would it be and why? What would you do on it?
Kelsey Leon: Alisha Marie’s. She’s so creative, and the content she produces is amazing. I would love to do a food challenge with her. She did weird food combinations twice and those are so fun to watch.
BSCKids: Do you have anything coming up in the future that you could tell us about?
Kelsey Leon: I’m working on singing right now. Stay tuned 🙂

BSCKids: Tell us about working with Feeding America and the other ways you give back.
Kelsey Leon: Feeding America is helping people who don’t have enough meals they need to survive. Every day, about 46 million children and adults can’t afford food due to underemployment and rising costs of living. I contribute to the organization as I help with different foods to see if their moldy or still okay to eat. They then go into the paper bags we design and get delivered to people who need it most. Every time I go, there is always a different activity depending on what kind of food the farmers and manufacturers produce.
BSCKids: Where can we find you on social media?
Kelsey Leon: Instagram, Youtube, Facebook: @kelseyleonofficial Twitter: @kleonofficial Snapchat: @thekelseycook
BSCKids: Why should we all be watching Chicken Girls season three? What can we expect?
Kelsey Leon: Chicken Girls Season three is going to be so different than any other Season you’ve seen. You can expect a lot of plot twists, new characters, and tons more singing and dancing. Can’t wait for you guys to watch in September.
Special thanks to Kelsey for taking the time out to talk to us and make sure to tune in to Chicken Girls Season Three.
