RUBY ROSE TURNER, DAKOTA LOTUS, PAXTON BOOTH, REBECCA METZ, ALBERT TSAI, OLIVIA SANABIA
Coop & Cami Ask the World On Disney Channel will it be a hit or miss going off of the very limited information that we have at this time. This is one of our favorite pieces that we do at the site and we will take a look at the show that has Dakota Lotus, Ruby Rose Turner, Albert Tsai (who we loved in Trophy Wife among other shows), Rebecca Metz, Olivia Sanabia, Paxton Booth among its cast members. This show will premiere on Friday, October 12th at 8:30 p.m. on the Disney Channel.
“Pilot” – Dakota Lotus and Ruby Rose Turner lead the ensemble cast of “Coop and Cami Ask the World,” a live-action comedy series about Cooper and Cameron Wrather, two middle-school siblings who make nearly all of their decisions both mundane and madcap by crowdsourcing opinions from the millions of followers of Cooper’s online channel, Would You Wrather.
We can also check out a Coop & Cami Ask the World Teaser video below, so make sure you watch that as well before we get into discussing the show.
The live-action family comedy follows Cooper (Coop) and Cameron (Cami) Wrather, two middle school siblings who co-host Coop’s online show “Would You Wrather.” With the help of their little brother Ollie and Coop’s best friend Fred, the duo fields offbeat questions and results to the show’s millions of followers (aka Wratherheads) who help them solve problems – both mundane and madcap. Every day is an adventure in the Wrather’s hectic household, which also includes their older sister Charlotte and mom Jenna, as Coop and Cami tackle adolescence and everyday family situations with humor and heart.
The teaser sets the stage for the show as we get the first “Would You Wrather,” with the question of would you rather have your mom date your principle or take your Mom as your date to a school dance.
Now that the stage is set let us talk a bit about the show. To be honest, outside of Albert Tsai we really do not know much about the rest of the cast, excluding Olivia Sanabia, who we know from Just Add Magic as Kelly Quinn. To us this is a big wild card in terms of how the group is going to do from the acting standpoint. Disney though usually gives us some pretty good actors/actresses so that we are not totally concerned here.
We love the idea of social media and using an online show to help them solve problems. Online presence is something that kids are super interested in and having the Wratherheads help solve problems is going to be something that everyone is going to have fun with. We wonder if they will be able to pull something off that has the real world voting to help them solve problems, like a poll from the DisneyNow app.
As the weather turns a bit colder, make sure you block off some time to check out Coop & Cami Ask the World show. The cast includes: Dakota Lotus as Cooper (Coop) Wrather, Ruby Rose Turner as Cameron (Cami) Wrather, Olivia Sanabia as Charlotte Wrather, Albert Tsai as Fred, Paxton Booth as Ollie Wrather, Rebecca Metz as Jenna Wrather.
To me this is going to be a semi hit in our house…we feel like on the same level as Bizaardvark, but not at the level of Bunk’d for us at least. The only problem that you sometimes have with a show like this is there is not a deep involvement with the characters family and life outside of the “Would You Wrather” show and they will have to make sure the audience feels the same interest in the characters as they do with the actually problem solving. Can’t call this one either way just yet, we are going to have to watch a few episodes.
The show is created by Boyce Bugliari & Jamie McLaughlin with Executive Producers Boyce Bugliari & Jamie McLaughlin, Dan Cross & Dave Hoge. The show has Greg Schaffer as Co-Executive Producer and is brought to us by It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc. The theme song is called “Ask The World” which is produced by Derek Coleman and written by Paula Winger, Maria Christensen and Derek Coleman. It is performed by Dakota Lotus and Ruby Rose Turner.
