Tessa Thompson is one of the most versatile actors in the world right now (not to mention she is stunningly beautiful on top of being insanely talented) and Disney is taking notice. According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, Thompson has been cast as Lady in its upcoming Lady & The Tramp remake, opposite Justin Theroux as the equally titular Tramp.
The Lady and the Tramp remake is another in a recent line of live-action/CGI adaptations from Disney, They previously remade The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Christopher Robin. They are currently working on adaptations of The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, and more.
The original Lady and the Tramp was first released in 1955 and introduced audiences everywhere to a spellbinding love story. The film focuses on Lady, a pampered cocker spaniel belonging to a well-to-do family, and Tramp, a streetwise mutt. After her owners have a baby, Lady finds herself out on the streets left to fend for herself. When Lady finds herself in danger, Tramp saves the day and tries to teach her that there’s more to life than the inside of a house. Adventure happens and love blossoms as a result.
Charlie Bean (The LEGO Ninjango Movie, Tron Uprising) will be directing the live-action/CG hybrid film. The studio is still casting for the leading and supporting cast on the movie but production will either start later this year or early next year.
Thompson is most known for her roles on “Westworld,” Thor: Ragnarok, Creed, and Sorry to Bother You.
