Jessica Treska can be seen in the Nickelodeon film “Alex & Me,” which is streaming now, and we got a chance to speck with her about her role in the movie as well as being on HBO’s “Sharp Objects”, based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn, which is set to premiere July 8th. You may also remember her from Disney’s “Walk the Prank” as well as some other work.
BSCKids: How did you get your role on HBO’s “Sharp Objects”?
Jessica Treska: I went to the first round of auditions which went really well, and then I got a call back. During the call back the director asked if I would cut my hair to shoulder length for the role, and I said yes. Later that week I got a call from my manager saying I got the role and soon after that, I cut my hair.
BSCKids: How is it working on a show like “Sharp Objects”?
Jessica Treska:It was so much fun and exciting because it was one of the biggest sets I have worked on, especially since I got to work alongside Amy Adams and other amazing actors. It was also really cool to travel around Northern California and Georgia for filming.
BSCKids: You also have gotten a role as Claire in the “Alex & Me” movie from Nickelodeon, how did that come about?
Jessica Treska:I auditioned for the role of Claire first, and then I was asked to audition for 4 other roles in the movie. I ended up getting a callback for the role of Claire and got to read with the actress that plays Reagan.
BSCKids: You play the role of Reagan’s arch-rival…was that a hard role for you to take?
Jessica Treska:Yes, because the actress who plays Reagan and I got extremely close and became really good friends during filming, so it was hard to become her enemy for the movie.
BSCKids: How did you get into character for the role?
Jessica Treska:I always took a second before filming to calm down from all the fun on set, so I could portray my role as a mean popular girl. I have never had the problem of laughing during a scene and breaking character, but it was hard to stay in character when I have to act as the enemy of one of my real life best friends.
BSCKids: How was it working with Alex Morgan? Did you have to practice soccer a lot for the role?
Jessica Treska:Working with Alex Morgan was amazing. I had actually worked with her before on a commercial, so it was really nice to see her again. I practiced a lot before we started filming with my brother who plays soccer, and I also practiced a lot every day after filming with the rest of the cast. Most of the big soccer scenes were filmed last so we had a lot of time to practice.
BSCKids: What is the coolest thing you saw Alex do while on set soccer wise?
Jessica Treska:The coolest thing I saw Alex do was juggling her soccer ball. She could have gone on for hours without dropping the ball!
BSCKids: Any fun behind the scenes antics you can share with us while filming?
Jessica Treska:The school scenes were shot in the hallways of a real high school, and we couldn’t disrupt the classes so when the bell rang for passing period, the cast and crew had to hide in 3 or 4 empty class rooms until passing period was over. Just so the students weren’t disrupted by knowing that a movie was being filmed at their school!
BSCKids: What is your favorite Instagram post of yours and why?
Jessica Treska:The post of me at The Happy Place. I love it because that was such a happy day and it is nothing like anything else I have posted.
BSCKids: What would be something your fans would be surprised to find out about you?
Jessica Treska:I have a twin brother and I love Go Karting! My brother and I got our own Karts for our birthday and we go out to Palm Springs every few weeks to drive them.
BSCKids: If you could guest star on any show which one would it be and why?
Jessica Treska:Game of Thrones! I love Game of Thrones and I think it would be so much fun to guest star in and see all of the cool stunts and special effects.
BSCKids: What are you currently listening to music wise?
Jessica Treska:I love Rap and have recently been listening to Post Malone and Billie Eilish.
BSCKids: Where can we find you on social media?
Jessica Treska:My instagram is @Jessica_Treska
BSCKids: What do you have coming up in the future you can talk about?
Jessica Treska:. A HBO miniseries I worked on will premiere on July 8th and my short film Broken will be entering film festivals pretty soon.
Thanks to Jessica for taking the time out of her schedule to answer some questions about her career. Make sure to tune in to Alex & Me on Nickelodeon to see her kill it as Claire, we all loved the movie.
