Another version of Freaky Friday is coming to compliment the 1976 version with Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, the 1995 version which starred Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffmann, and the one that we remember the most, the 2003 version with Tess Coleman played by Jamie Lee Curtis and Anna Coleman played by Lindsay Lohan. This new 2018 version of Freaky Friday will be based on the musical version and will premiere in the summer of 2018 starring Heidi Blickenstaff, reprising her role as Katherine from the musical, and Cozi Zuehlsdorff her daughter Ellie.

This version will feature an hourglass that causes the body switch and we find it interesting that Disney did not use its regular stars to fill these parts. We are happy to see both Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Heidi Blickenstaff, from the musical get a chance to give us a new spin on this movie. What is fun about the Freaky Friday series is that you can make it fresh each and every time as the overall premise is the switching of the bodies of mother and daughter, but not what happens next. So for everyone that is complaining that this has been done before, we think of these movies each being pretty fresh based on the story.

Heidi Blickenstaff will play Katherine Blake with Cozi Zuehlsdorff cast as Ellie Blake. Cozi has done some Disney work in the past though as Buttercup on Sofia the First, Pinky on K.C. Undercover and Ocean on Liv and Maddie so you may remember her. If not, from what we have seen, you will enjoy watching her on this movie. Getting Heidi to play Katherine, which is the role she had in the musical was a great idea and we look forward to seeing her.
