Bob by Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead is one of those children’s books that we all should read, even better if you read it while your child is reading it and then discuss it with them. Bob is really that wonderful and Luciana V just consumed this book. She went into bed early to read it, she woke up early the next day to read it and when she was done she was excited to talk about it. This is an instant classic and should be something that sits on many bookshelves for generations.
It’s been five years since Livy and her family have visited Livy’s grandmother in Australia. Now that she’s back, Livy has the feeling she’s forgotten something really, really important about Gran’s house.
It turns out she’s right.
Bob, a short, greenish creature dressed in a chicken suit, didn’t forget Livy, or her promise. He’s been waiting five years for her to come back, hiding in a closet like she told him to. He can’t remember who—or what—he is, where he came from, or if he even has a family. But five years ago Livy promised she would help him find his way back home. Now it’s time to keep that promise.
Clue by clue, Livy and Bob will unravel the mystery of where Bob comes from, and discover the kind of magic that lasts forever.
Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead, two masterminds of classic, middle-grade fiction come together to craft this magical story about the enduring power of friendship.
The questions keep coming and Luciana V is here to give her take:
If you could describe the book in one word what would it be?
Mysterious
If one of the characters could come to your house for dinner, who would you like to have visit?
Bob, because he is very funny
What did you think of the cover?
I liked it because it doesn’t reveal who Bob is
If you lived next door to Livy would you be friends?
Yes, because she is friendly and she is interesting because she found this amazing creature Bob
What is one thing you could ask the author if you could talk to him or her?
How did you come up with this story.
