We are excited to share our interview with Aliyah Moulden who was just on The Voice 2017 and will be starring in the Netflix movie “Anastasia: Once Upon A Time”. Aliyah was also in an upcoming episode of The Thundermans.
Aliyah Moulden is a super-vocalist powerhouse and triple threat performer, who just completed a stint as a contestant on The Voice 2017. On the show, she achieved the top 3 status while she was on Blake Shelton’s team. Since her time on the show, Aliyah has been focusing on acting and recently just landed a lead role in the upcoming Netflix original movie “Anastasia: Once Upon A Time”.
BSCKids: Aliyah, tell us about your time on The Voice 2017, what was it like being on Blake Shelton’s team?
Aliyah Moulden: My time on The Voice was amazing. I had Blake Shelton as my coach and he was the best coach I could have ever asked for. He’s so humble and so supportive.
BSCKids: When did you first realize that you wanted to be a singer?
Aliyah Moulden: I realized at age 3 that I wanted to sing. I would make my mom and grandmother sit down and listen to me sing for hours. It was almost like a mini concert… except none of the songs had actual words and no one could leave their seat.
BSCKids: Can you tell us anything about your character in Anastasia?
Aliyah Moulden: My character is a pop singer of the 1980’s, a Cyndi Lauper type. She becomes best friends with the characters from the film Anastasia and Megan.
BSCKids: Do you do any singing in the movie?
Aliyah Moulden: I am so excited to say that I get to sing in the movie. I sang a Cyndi Lauper cover. I also got to sing an original song. It was an amazing experience to do this project, and do what I love.
BSCKids: Can you tell us any funny behind the scenes stories while working on Anastasia?
Aliyah Moulden: I spent my 16th year old birthday while filming Anastasia. We went to Kentucky kingdom and I got over my fear of roller coasters that day so that was pretty awesome.
BSCKids: We also hear you are going to be on an episode of The Thundermans?
Aliyah Moulden: I got the opportunity to be on an episode of The Thundermans. My friend Diego Velazques who portrays Billy Thunderman gave me the opportunity to be in one of the last episodes of the Thundermans. I loved the experience and I am so thankful that I got to be a part of such an amazing show.
BSCKids: Who will you be playing and how was it working on the show?
Aliyah Moulden: I play a waitress named Sam. The experience of working on the show was amazing, everyone was so kind.
When you were on Jessie did you get a chance to meet and interact with Debby, Peyton and Cameron?
Aliyah Moulden: I was too shy to talk to Peyton or Debby, but I did get to spend time with Cameron. At the time he was my celebrity crush so it was a really surreal moment for 10-year-old me.
BSCKids: Do you attend regular school?
Aliyah Moulden: I used to attend regular school, but I got so busy I had to homeschool.
BSCKids: How involved in your career is your family?
Aliyah Moulden: My family is very involved in my career. My mom, who works full time, but when shes not at work shes taking me to all of my career related activities. I am so thankful for her. I don’t know when she sleeps, or if she does. She’s truly a super mom.
BSCKids: If you could pick one person to work with on a music single who would it be and if you could guest star on any television show which one would it be?
Aliyah Moulden: If I could work with one person to work with it would be Chance the Rapper. I totally love his style of music. As for a television show, I would love to go back to The Voice as a singer/performer, and coach. That would be a dream come true.
BSCKids: What is next for you?
Aliyah Moulden: I am working on a new cover with Mackenzie Sol. Also, I am doing a few cover songs and videos. At the same time I will be getting ready to work on a single and an EP. It is an exciting time when it comes to music.
BSCKids: Where do you hope to see yourself in 2018 and beyond?
Aliyah Moulden: I hope to see myself working more in the music field as well as on television. Hopefully in the future, an EGOT!
BSCKids: Tell us why we should all be tuning in to Anastasia when it comes out…
Aliyah Moulden: The movie has such a beautiful story line, but also be ready to watch a totally awesome cast. Emily Carey, who plays the young Diana in global smash Wonder Woman. Also it is starring Amiah Miller who stars in the “War for the Planet of the Apes,” and Kendall Vertes as Tana.
