BSCKids got the chance to speak with Bryce Gheisar on a bunch of different topics including his work on “Walk The Prank” and other movies. Bryce is a very interesting person so check out our interview below.
Bryce Gheisar stars as Herman, Chance’s little brother in Disney XD’s “Walk the Prank.” “Walk the Prank” is an innovative new format that blends scripted comedy with real hidden-camera pranks in a series that follows a team of practical jokesters who create hilarious over-the-top pranks for an online hidden camera show.
BSCKids: Tell us a bit about your roles on “Walk The Prank”, Wonder, Into The Who Knows and how your audition for each role went
Bryce Gheisar: My role on “Walk the Prank” is about a kid who doesn’t fit in among 5 kids. He is always the one who is left out, but he gets to do all the pranks with them. He also thinks that he is cool but everyone knows that he is not. But he has a certain swagger that some people love. In “Wonder” I play a bully that is named Julian, and he is pretty mean but always tries to be super cool. At the end you realize he is very nice, but when he is scared he starts to act mean. In “Into the Who knows” I play a boy who is blocked off from the outside world. He has a little fox that he thinks is a real friend, but it’s really a stuffed animal. This boy lives in an imaginary world. He gets sent to summer camp and realizes he has to make friends in the real world with real kids. All of the auditions went pretty well. On “Wonder” I thought I did pretty badly, but then I got the call back which weirded me out because I thought I was done. After meeting the director I realized I did well. I almost cried when I found out. When filming “Into the Who Knows,” I did a skype audition with “Walk the Prank” and I thought I did well. Cody and I did improv in front of the producers on Skype. For “Into the Who Knows,” I thought I did just alright, but the director really liked me and made me comfortable with him. That audition was really fun, and it turned out I got the role.
BSCKids: Any funny behind the scenes of any show or movie you can tell us about?
Bryce Gheisar: During filming the pilot episode, we put a hairy doll into a blender. We forgot to put the top on the blender, and this gross doll shake went all over the place! It was pretty disgusting! It was not meant to happen though!
BSCKids: Which character do you share the most similarities with out of these three things you are working on?
Bryce Gheisar: Definitely not my character from “Wonder!” In “A Dogs Purpose, I kind of resembled my character because I love dogs and it was easy for me to take the role. For “Walk the Prank,” I have similarities to Herman, because I have my own style and so does he, and I also stand out in the groups I hang out with.
BSCKids: Who do you think has taught you the most while working on these shows and movies? How was it working with Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson?
Bryce Gheisar: Katherine Sullivan who was my acting coach back in Texas. She is the first person I met in the acting business. She has always been super nice, and she has helped me throughout my career, and has been supportive. They were both really nice! I didn’t really talk with Owen Wilson. I asked Julia Roberts some advice on acting. I asked her about crying. She told me to think about something super sad which will bring your deepest emotions out.
BSCKids: What was your favorite scene From Walk The Prank? Any interesting pranks that didn’t make the final cut?
Bryce Gheisar: You’ll have to watch season 2 to see my favorite!
BSCkids: What is your favorite Disney show of all time?
Bryce Gheisar: Good Luck Charlie, we all used to watch every episode at home.
BSCKids: Do you have any exciting fan moments?
Bryce Gheisar: The first time I went to the Radio Disney Music Awards, there were a bunch of girls screaming my name asking for an autograph. It was crazy. There was also a little boy who hysterically started crying when he saw me. That was in Texas. He started freaking out, but he was really awesome, and nice.
BSCKids: What do you never leave home without?
Bryce Gheisar: My clothes, and cool shoes.
BSCKids: Tell us a bit about your hobbies.
Bryce Gheisar: I love to draw, and love sketching anything that come to my mind.
BSCKids: What has been your hardest roll to date?
Bryce Gheisar: Julian from Wonder, because he is always filled with so many emotions while being a bully. He is not your typical bully. His mom is very mean to people as well, so it influences his actions. Whenever he gets scared he tries to protect himself by being mean, so that role was really hard for me to play.
BSCKids: What did you learn from your role in A Dogs Purpose?
Bryce Gheisar: I learned what dogs are thinking. When I came home from watching the movie, I looked at my dog and thought you want bacon don’t you!? I learned a lot about dogs and their personalities, and that they are also probably talking to you but you just don’t know it.
BSCKids: Who would you love to work with in the future?
Bryce Gheisar: I would love to work with Leonardo DiCaprio. He is my favorite movie actor, and also Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He seems like he would be fun and cool to work with.
BSCKids: What is currently playing on your iPhone music wise right now?
Bryce Gheisar: “The Shape of You” album by Ed Sheeran, and the 24K Magic album by Bruno Mars.
BSCKids: If you could guest star on any television show which would it be and why?
Bryce Gheisar: Stranger Things.
BSCKids: What advice would you give to other kids that want to get into acting?
Bryce Gheisar: Find a good acting school, and see if it’s a passion because you always have to love what you’re doing. It’s a lot of hard work, and you have to be prepared for it. I love acting, so the fun always outweighs the hard work. You have to know that if you get rejected, it doesn’t mean you’re not a good actor. It just means it’s not your role. Always be positive and never give up!
BSCKids: Where can we find you on social media?
@brycegheisar for all social media.
Phew, probably one of our longest interviews to date, but Bryce is a very interesting person!
