Ann’Jewel Lee Talks The Last Word – Interview

BSCKids recently was lucky enough to get to speak with Ann’Jewel Lee who stars in The Last Word along with Amanda Deyfried and Shirley MacLaine. We get to learn a bit more about Ann’Jewel Lee and how she fits everything into her busy life.

Ann’Jewel Lee stars alongside Amanda Seyfried and Shirley MacLaine in the upcoming film, THE LAST WORD.

BSCKids: Ann’Jewel Lee, tell us a bit about your character in The Last Word?

Ann’Jewel Lee: My character was very tough on the outside but soft in the inside. It was really hard to get to her but her inspiration, Harriet, was able to get to her.

BSCKids: How was it working with both Amanda Seyfried and Shirley MacLaine, what do you feel that you learned from each of them while filming?

Ann’Jewel Lee: It was very helpful. I learned a lot, they showed lots of great examples for me to learn. From Amanda and Shirley I learned to become your character.

BSCKids: From the trailer you look like you have a great time in the movie, any behind the scenes stories you can share with us?

Ann’Jewel Lee: My favorite behind the scene story was when we filmed the funeral scene and Amanda and me played hand games.

BSCKids: Besides those two, is there anyone that you would really love to work with in the future?

Ann’Jewel Lee: I would like to work with Angelina Jolie because my name is related to hers.

BSCKids: This is your first big break, how did you get the role of Brenda?

Ann’Jewel Lee: By auditioning.

BSCKids: How do you get in character? Is Brenda similar to you in any way?

Ann’Jewel Lee: I got into character by reading the lines over and over also by reading the description lots of times. No, she is not really similar to me.

BSCKids: How hard is it to work on a movie and get all of your school work done as well as finding time for your friends?

Ann’Jewel Lee: You have to be able to multi-task in order to do all of those things.

BSCKids: How supportive has your family been?

Ann’Jewel Lee: My family has been very supportive by being very affectionate.

BSCKids: Are there any celebrities you are dying to meet?

Ann’Jewel Lee: Lupita N’yongo and Janelle Monae.

BSCKids: Give me a few tips to be a successful actor or for kids trying to get into acting?

Ann’Jewel Lee: Make sure you nail your lines and get into character.

BSCKids: What hobbies do you have?

Ann’Jewel Lee: I like to cook, make videos on YouTube and hang out with my family.
