The holiday season has passed and the New Year has already started…so now what. At least that is the general feeling once the still wintery days of February have fallen upon us. But the twenty-eight day month doesn’t have to be lackluster.
As we have a lot of animated content headed our way. Including an all-new special for Nick’s SpongBob that is set to air this President’s Day.
According to the press release, Nickelodeon will be celebrating President’s Day weekend with a weekend long marathon of “Spongebob Squarepants” they are calling the “Krabby Patty Party.” Culminating the weekend marathon is a brand-new, half-hour SpongeBob SquarePants special, “Goodbye, Krabby Patty?,” on Monday, Feb. 20, at 7:00p.m. (ET/PT).
The special will feature guest star Jon Hamm (Mad Men) as charismatic advertising agency executive Don Grouper. The Emmy Award-winning actor lends his voice as the sharp-witted and devastatingly charming Grouper, who has a big plan for the Krabby Patty that may prove irresistible, even to the impervious Mr. Krabs. In the episode, Mr. Krabs manufactures Krabby Patties on an industrial scale, but it drives a wedge between SpongeBob and Patrick.
The “President’s Day Weekend Krabby Patty Party” will begin Saturday, Feb. 18 with a marathon of episodes and brand-new SpongeBob content, including original videos, premiering on-air and online. Beginning Feb. 13, fans can play an all-new game, SpongeBob SquarePants Cartoon Creator, where users can create interactive cartoon strips starring their very own SpongeBob-style avatars on Nick.com and the Nick App.
But the new content doesn’t end with the Spongebob Special. Immediately after the special, viewers can watch a sneak peek of the new series, “Bunsen is a Beast,” from animation veteran Butch Hartman (The Fairly OddParents) at 7:30p.m. (ET/PT). Bunsen follows the adventures of the first beast to ever attend human school. The series will officially debut on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 5:30p.m. (ET/PT) and air through Friday, Feb. 24. It will then continue with premieres in its regular timeslot of Saturdays at 10:30a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
I do always commend Nick for making sure that there is something new with a draw airing on days such as President’s Day. More so the fact that they do set the airing at night so if students do have to go into school to make-up for a snow day they are not missing out on the fun completely.
So be sure to tune into Nick to catch this new tale at the Krusty Krab. The “President’s Day Weekend Krabby Patty Party” kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 18.
