
If there can be one thing to said about 2016 above all else it is this: It was a GREAT year for animated movies and TV. From the small screens filled with new and old faces we love and cherish each and every encounter to the silver screen filled with reimagined tales and brand-new stories that came to life right before our eyes.
2016 saw new a plethora of new movies hit the theater for the beloved Disney Animated Studios as well as just as beloved animation giant, Pixar. Stories with heart and passion that left us more than a little bit emotional after the credits rolled such Zootopia, Finding Dory and the mega hit Moana.
Moana –the latest film from the famed company, and the last released late in 2016- has been making waves. (Yes, pun only mildly intended.) After having so many other strong films come before it, Moana was more than able to stand extremely well on its own merit.
The film had a great deal of hype around it since news first broke of this Pacific set tale. After all Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson stood behind the mic and voiced Maui.
If you haven’t heard of Moana already here is the official summary.
A sweeping, CG-animated adventure about a spirited teenager who sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master wayfinder and fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty demi-god Maui, and together, they traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous fiery creatures and impossible odds.
The film that first opened on November 23rd of 2016 and had great box office success. And merchandise for the series has been not only selling well but also was a popular choice for gifts during the holiday season. Allowing fans to recall and replay their favorite scenes from the feature film during the cold days filled with cabin fever that rises during this time of year.
But there is a quick way to beat any signs of cabin fever and winter blues; nice warm beaches. Something that Moana”has plenty of. So why not watch it again? Right.
Fans of Disney’s newest hit animated feature film Moana can rejoice. As a new way to re-live and experience the newest film in a different light. A sing along version of the film is making waves in theaters at the end of month. For a special run it two-thousand theaters across the country. On January 27th get your vocal cords ready to belt it along the characters to “How Far I’ll Go” and more.
Because this is a limited affair, be sure to check your local listing to get your tickets early!
Can’t make it to the theater for the sing along? No worries, just pre-order the film digitally or physically. Digital versions of the film arrive on devices February 21st and the blu-ray release hits retails on March 7th.
