Back in September I first wrote about a new international series arriving on Disney networks across the globe, “The Lodge.” A musical, teen drama following fifteen-year-old Skye, who after moving from the big city to rural North Ireland finds herself starting over. And intending to save her family’s country hotel from being sold.
This Ireland set series had a lot of excitement around it before it made its way to airwaves. And not long after that completely blew-up and became an instant favorite for viewers as they found themselves hooked episode after episode. And with the first season ended fans have questioned if and when we might see a second season.
Might it be a season’s early gift, but “The Lodge” has officially been green-lit for another season!
According to the press release, the second season will begin filming in early 2017, once again in Northern Ireland. Also, the show’s 15 episode second season will feature a new mystery and more original music, with 12 new songs planned. Raymond Lau from Zodiak Kids Studios’ UK production arm will return to produce the show, while Steven Andrew (Secret Life of Boys) will serve as executive producer and Lee Walters will continue as head writer.
And yes, this time there is more than the far too short ten episodes we had in the first season.
Seeing as this is hot off the press news. There are no details for the time-line for the next season’s arrival. Nor any news of plot and casting. Considering how popular the series is I can image that it will not be that long before we hear something. I recall one of my first thoughts in regards to the series was how much I wanted to see “The Lodge” do well. As someone who is –seemingly- always watching content from countries around the world. It is always nice to see just how different a story can be if set in a different place with a differing perspective. Not only do I want to personally see more form this series and cast. It also gives some hope that we might get to see more internal series make their way to our screens.
