The first official Mario game for the mobile device FINALLY has an official release date! “Super Mario Run” will be available to download on Dec. 15 on iOS devices.
“Super Mario Run” will be free to download but that is only the first level. Unfortunately, like most mobile games these days to get the full game you will have to pay. Downloading the free version of the game allows you to “try elements of the game’s three modes,” but to unlock the whole game, it’ll cost you $9.99.
Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Doug Bowser said in a statement:
The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices. Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario Run brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.
“Super Mario Run” will be available for iOS devices running 8.0 or later including iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. Nintendo has not announced an Android release, however, there appears to be some hope. The developer initially described the game as “iOS-first” in its initial announcement so an Android version could be on the way.
You can watch the introduction teaser video for “Super Mario Run” below and download the mobile game beginning December 15.
