These little girls are getting older and now we can look at some interesting items we might not have considered last year. This is a compilation of hot toys for the holidays from what we have seen in the stores, at Toy Fair, and by looking at some of the other holiday guides out there. For a few of the items you are really going to have to search to find them so we listed both hot items that may be a bit harder to find along with some items that are just as good and are easily available.
This year we start to get into jewelry for the girls as well as having some craft items. That being said the hottest items are still in the collectible toys market with there being at least six different collectible toys on our list. We have labeled all of our stocking stuff items as well for toys that are small in size or price that make perfect items for the stocking.
You can click on some of the links to be taken to our YouTube Channel that has video of the product and let us know if there is anything that we missed for our Holiday Gift Guide for 7 year old girls. In no particular order (note: products were provided to BSCKids free of charge):
Brightlings: Dolls are getting more and more interactive and once you see the mouth on the Brightlings dolls you will do a little bit of a double take. Wait, that doll is talking and it looks really neat, is this available now? Yes Brightlings are available now and they are one of the coolest dolls you have interacted with. Brightlings say over 100 things, they can repeat what you say, they can create songs (including a super fun beat box mode) and many other things. We love the feel and look of the doll and it really is something your daughter will play with a ton.
My Little Pony Equestria Girl Minis (Stocking Stuffer): My Little Pony Equestria Girl Minis have a little extra something going for them and that is they are poseable with 9 points of articulation. The play-sets are just super fun and the detail on the characters and their clothes are high quality. They also have a bunch of interchangeable items. A great height doll to play with in their room or even on the go. Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash may be coming to your next restaurant visit.
Monster High Minis (Stocking Stuffer): What can you say about toy collectibles besides the fact that they are collectible and you must have them all. This is how both myself and my daughter feel about the Monster High Minis, you can’t just have one, you really need to have them all. We just love the look and feel of these and as with all Monster High dolls, the detail and fun factor is always there. If you really want to show them off finish up with the Monster High Minis Collector’s Case.
Magic Sketch: We go through a lot of paper letting our daughter draw only to have to throw it out after a few attempts or when she wants to draw something new. Using an LCD screen you can sketch, draw, trace with the Magic Sketch. Then with a push of a button you can clear it and start again, really the perfect tic-tac-toe device. It allows tracing by using tracing stencils or the fact that is transparent you can put what you want to trace behind it. It has a super long battery life (around 7 years so you don’t need to charge) and Magic Sketch is water resistant and what they would call kid proof. If you go with the deluxe upgrade you get a case, 4 styluses, 60 stencils, 1 roller 3 stamps. For a car ride this could be one of the best things to happen, I would even say you should throw it in your pocketbook before going out to eat dinner.
LEGO Disney Minifigures (Stocking Stuffer): LEGO Minifigures and Disney together? Yes Yes Yes, these packs of figures have some of the best Disney characters in a very cute format. Plus, they work in all of your LEGO Playsets. Buzz Lightyear needs to come and save the day in a LEGO Friends play-set? No Problem. Have fun by mixing some of the greatest building toys and the greatest movies.
Num Noms Lip Gloss Truck: We may not yet be ready for makeup but lip gloss is OK in our book. The Num Noms Truck allows your child to make their own lip gloss by adding flavors, sprinkles and all of that good stuff and then you can dispense it from the ice cream machine portion of the toy. You also get a special edition scented num: Cherry Scoop.
Disney Tsum Tsum (Stocking Stuffer): So cute. These stackable Disney characters are just cute, it is just the word that is so fitting for them. Keep on stacking.
Gift ‘Ems (Stocking Stuffer): Don’t think to yourself, wow another collectible toy, because Gift ‘Ems have a bit more going for them. The material they are made out of is nice, and the ability to mix and match all the body parts make for some customization. The fact they are based on a specific country allows you to learn a bit about each country and really open up a nice dialog with your children to learn a little more about each one of those countries. Certain countries have a few different characters who live in different cities so you can also learn about each one of the cities as well. Any toy that helps teach diversity is a good toy in my opinion. Plus we just love opening the gift boxes. For the USA you have Boston, Miami, Dallas, Seattle, etc…
Snuggie Tails: The mermaid tails blankets are made by about a million companies by now, but when it comes to quality and price point Snuggie Tails are the way to go. They hold up to your active kids and are a fun blanket and even roleplay toy. They have dolphins, penguins, sharks, different types of fish and two different color of mermaids. The fact that they are washable velveteen is a bonus as we know what happens to kids blankets.
Crayola Jewelry Maker: This really does allow your child to make jewelry that you would feel comfortable wearing to a nice dinner event, let that sink in as you get that black dress on and that homemade macaroni necklace. Seeing this at Toy Fair was a shock, a crafting product that allows your child to make something that you want to wear because it is cool looking, not just because you love them. If you are getting only one crafting item this holiday season, I think this is it.
Pom Pom Wow: When it comes to crafting Pom Pom Wow actually Wowed me when we first saw it at Toy Fair. From the moment that I first saw that car covered in Pom Pom Wow pom-poms I just knew it was going to be high on my list of items to get our daughter for the holiday season. I personally had so much fun playing with them myself at Toy Fair and once you see how mess free it is you can understand the wow factor. You can decorate almost everything with your custom pom-poms and should you change your mind, no worries they are very easy to remove. One of our top products this year and one that will be very happy to sit down at the table and play with my daughter.
Mermaid Pillow: There are a ton of companies making these now and you should be able to find them pretty easy (most are pillow cases so you will still need a pillow) and they are made out of what is being called reversible sequins. They are super relaxing to make designs in and just feel good to play with. They might not be super comfortable to rest your head on but I don’t think that is the point.
Silver Name Necklace: For those of us who have 7 year old girls that don’t have their ears pierced (that is its own discussion of what age you let your kids get their ears pierced), the first piece of jewelry that they might start wearing could be a necklace. At this age though I still seem to think this may get lost or broken so we are going to keep it in the cheaper metal of silver (we don’t really like costume jewelry). The name necklace is super popular and your daughter will love it.
Sleeping Queens: Our daughter just loves to play card games, and we love the fact that they don’t take up a lot of space and are easy to store and to bring with you on vacation. Gamewright has always produced highly polished card games and Queens is no different, a great game that was invented by a 6-year-old. The artwork and card quality are really wonderful as we have come to expect from Gamewright. The Pancake Queen, Ladybug Queen and some of their friends have fallen under a sleeping spell, it is your job to wake them up and win the game. What 7 year old girl does not like Queens? Playtime is around 15 minutes.
My Little Pony Sweetie Belle Plush: This was one of those hard to find plush characters, but my daughter was adamant that this be under the tree this year so hunting we went. We were able to find this great Sweetie Belle Plush and I think she is going to be super excited as this is her new My Little Pony favorite character.
Beckmann Klassik Backpack: There are backpacks and then there are backpacks! Beckmann has one of the latter. Normally one of the biggest issues we have with backpacks is quality and the second issue around that would be will it actually last the school year. You package that up against the fact that most of the higher quality backpacks are just not made for children or don’t have the same sort of fun fashion that Beckmann brings to the table. Some of the exciting features that you will not find in those big box store backpacks include a chest strap, lots of room, reflectors on ALL sides (for safety), rain cover in lid, a super comfortable backpack that is anatomically shaped for your spine, and it also has good ventilation. This is a top notch backpack and one that will survive more than one or two school years. Take and spend the little extra money for something that is comfortable and safe for your children, we just love all of the extra safety factors and design elements to make it great for the kids. It is such a nice backpack you will also use to when you travel over the summer or go away to Grandma’s house that you can consider it a piece of luggage as well.
Jewerly Box: Not one particular size or shape that we recommend, but we went with a floor standing model that has a built in mirror from Wayfair. Your daughter will end up having something like this for the rest of her life so make sure you buy something that is a nice wood and looks like it will hold up from now until she is married.
Disney Elena of Avalor Magical Scepter of Light with Sounds: What a great show for the kids, my daughter just finished watching the new Elena movie and the Scepter is a great role playing toy for them to have while watching the movie for the eightieth time in a day! The scepter has motion activated lights and sound and also plays the My Time song.
Funko My Little Pony: Sweetie Belle Vinyl Figure: You can never have too much Sweetie Belle in my daughters opinion, so while the plush is great to cuddle with, the vinyl figure from Funko looks great on a shelf or on a desk.
Gelli Arts Printing Plate: We love crafts that have easy clean up and also have the ability to really allow your child to be creative. You can check both of those off the list when it comes to the Gelli Arts Printing Plate. The plates feel a bit like gelatin but are reusable. Using inks, fabric paint or acrylic paint this works like a printing press to create some awesome looking art. You can also make some great thank you cards, holiday cards, all sorts of projects. All different types of paper are usable so you should be able to get started right away.
LEGO Friends 41126 Heartlake Riding Club Building Kit: Every year, year after year, LEGO products will continue to show up on Holiday Gift Guides. It makes sense, block building is something that never goes out of style and LEGO has both great licenses as well as great original designs. LEGO Friends has been a huge hit and this is the year that you can really get started with some of the more complex sets.
Hatchimals: Ok, if you are thinking about Hatchimals for your daughter for Christmas you probably should have thought about this in early October or you will have to be very persistent. There is a reason they are super hard to find, they are super cool. Who is inside your egg? You do not know, but you can hear their heart beat as well as tap on the egg to hear them tap back. Hatchimals need you to help them hatch so don’t be surprised when you see their eyes from inside the egg. Once they get out of the egg you need to continue to raise your Hatchimal as they progress through different stages and you get to teach them how to do all sorts of cool things including games and more.
Barbie Dreamhouse: I don’t think I could even dream of something this cool for my Barbie dolls while I was growing up, this surpasses anything in my imagination, the Dreamhouse is just that exciting, truly a smart home. You have a garage to pack Barbie’s cars and that is where the fun starts as the Dreamhouse has 3 floors with a working elevator. The smart accessories are interactive and this is what really makes the house exciting (the fan spins), plus use a smart phone to simulate Barbie’s flat screen in the living room. Over 70 accessories means you will have everything you need for Barbie play time.
Shopkins Kinstructions Deluxe Set Food Court: We have talked about collectible Shopkins many times at this site, so what I can tell you is buying a Shopkins Playset this year is going to be met with a thank you and some excited giggling. You just can’t go wrong with Shopkins.
Furreal Friends Torch My Blazin’ Dragon Pet: Pretty much the closest thing to a real baby dragon from any cartoon show you can think of. Again the amount of interaction is just insane, it blows smoke (cold steam) that you can make roast the toy marshmallow that it comes with. The movement is realistic and who doesn’t want a baby dragon as a pet?
Hamsters in the House: A Hamster collectible that also runs around the play-sets which then turn on interactive noises are fun. They have some great play-sets like the Ultimate Hamster House with tracks and slides that also allow the hamster to run in a spinning exercise wheel means that your kids will have a fun time.
