Ever since Disney made their grand debut of their newest princess, “Elena of Avalor” there has been a ton of hype. We here at BSCKids have even been here every step of the way loving the series and following Elena as she took her first steps into ruling a kingdom.
Though the series has only been in syndication since the end of July, “Elena of Avalor” has become a massive hit with fans of all ages. And it is easy to see why. Elena is not only a great ruler for her beloved Avalor, but a great sister and granddaughter. Nevermind a great role model for kids to admire. She is strong, adventurous and never afraid to do what she must to do protect the ones she loves.
All of the characters are fantastic and the dynamics they form together really shine. And really, who would not want to move to Avalor?
Plus the original music the show features is beyond catchy. Right?
If you recall back to my review of the series’ opener. You might recall how the call-backs to days past were something that left me mixed. Mostly because we had yet to see what lead everyone to be where they are. But it clearly had already happened. Now, at long last, our wait for those answers and more are before us. The crossover television film event with “Sofia the First” and “Elena of Avalor” is finally happening! “Elena and the Secrets of Avalor” is hitting Disney Channel and Disney Junior on November 20th. Get your DVRs ready!
The new television movie (the first of Elena) acts as the series origin tale. Princess Sofia of Enchancia (The same Sofia of Disney’s popular series “Sofia the First”) learns the hidden secrets of her amulet. Not only is it magic and links all the princess that have ever donned it. But it also holds an imprisoned princess, Elena of Avalor.
Sofia ventures forward to free Elena from the amulet. And once freed from the Amulet of Avalor, Elena must face her old foe. The evil sorceress Shuriki that is responsible for Elena’s beloved kingdom to fall. Elena’s own capture and the fate of the ones she loves.
In addition to bridging two of Disney’s reigning princess together. The movie will feature Elena’s famed song “My Time.”
I, for one, am glad that we are so close to seeing the story of where Elena’s second chance started. The series has been doing a great job. But now with this all the details and pieces will click a bit more firmly together.
The fact that “Elena of Avalor,” being a spin-off. Has not really made any call-back to “Sofia the First” shows just how strong the series has become on their own right. But I will admit that I am excited to see the characters from the two shows share the screen together. Maybe later down the line we might causally see some of them appear in the other series.
I think the big question on a lot of fan’s mind is just how much will this effect Sofia? Even though some of the new episodes that have aired are set after these events. It will be interesting to see if there are any swift changes with her and the amulet. Moreover, will her family and everyone finally learn the secrets she has been baring? That kind of revelation would change things up quite a bit.
“Elena and the Secrets of Avalor” is going to be epic. And perhaps a great way to slowly jump into the craziness that is the holiday season. And I for one cannot wait!
Do not miss this epic crossover, November 20th only on Disney Channel and Disney Junior!
