One of the most iconic book series of all time is heading to a new animated format! Shout! Factory and Legacy Classics announced today that they have entered into a new partnership to develop a slate of new family movies based on several best-selling classic and contemporary children’s book series and the first project for the partnership is an animated film based on The Boxcar Children!
The Boxcar Children film series will adapt the long running book series by Gertrude Chandler Warner which currently includes 150 different titles and has sold over 70 million books world-wide.
The studio is planning a minimum of four feature-length movies over the first two years while Legacy Classics and Shout! Factory are launching their partnership with three movies based on the Boxcar Children alone. They are planning the release of the first film with the series’ 75th Anniversary in 2019.
