There are so many beauty products these days that it can be so overwhelming when it comes time to buy. Whether you are buying for yourself or a loved one, it can be a daunting task. You have hundreds of types of shampoos let alone the three aisles often dedicated to makeup and hair products in places like Target or Walmart. Then you have somewhere like Ulta where the whole store is beauty products. It can get crazy!
But here are some of the best products I have used in the past year!
Sinful Colors Nail Polish
I love this nail polish. Not only is it one of the most cost efficient brands out there ($1.99 a bottle), but it comes in SO MANY COLORS all year long. For Halloween they had tons of specialty colors (I bought some awesome glow in the dark colors by the way) and for Christmas they have a beautiful array of colors. I especially love the shimmery colors which last a super long time and look great all holiday season. The color is chip resistant giving you an even color delivered via an Italian made polish brush for a pro finish. It is one of the best and longest lasting polishing I have found.
Hard Candy Lip Gloss
I love these lip glosses. They come in shimmery colors as well as these unique layered blends. Whichever you getm they apply smoothly and comfortably leaving your lips looking shiny and moisturized. They also come in a variety of shades that you can’t go wrong with. It will literally match anything you choose to pair with. These also make a great stocking stuffer if you want something that any girl will love!
Revlon ColorBurst Matte Lipstick
I hate lipstick. I have never worn it UNTIL I found ColorBurst Matte Lipstick. I absolutely love this stuff. It doesn’t smudge and it lasts forever. It isn’t glossy or shiny and just looks so beautiful. It is a matte so it goes on like a crayon and has a flat coloring but I love that I can drink coffee and eat all day any by the end of the day it is still pretty much there. It is also a balm so it keeps your lips from drying out which is amazing. The colors are also intensely bright and look gorgeous on anybody. Whether your skin tone is super pale like me or dark skinned like my best friend who introduced them to me. Literally anyone can wear matte lipstick because of the way it goes one, every color is so bright it will show up just as beautifully.
Henna Hair Dye
If you or someone you know regularly dyes their with box dies, I HIGHLY recommend switching to Henna hair dye. I use a company called Henna Color Lab to dye my hair a deep red color which previously I had been using box dyes for. Henna is all natural with zero chemicals. It actually makes your hair healthier when using it. My hair was so damaged from using box dies over and over again but when I switched to henna it is now thicker and shinier than it was before I ever started dying it years ago. It also not that expensive. Between all the sales and stuff they run, I end up saving money using Henna Color Lab compared to when I was buying box dyes every month or so. Also Henna lasts much longer. I only have to dye my hair every 4 months or longer depending on how long I let my roots go. It never fades!
Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner
I switched to Pureology (whenever I can afford it anyway) a few years ago when my hairstyle suggested it because of how often I dye my hair. I use the one called “Reviving Red” since I dye my hair red and it SMELLS AMAZING but it also leaves my hair silky smooth like nothing I have ever used before. Not to mention it does help my roots lasting red longer than if I don’t use it. However, I have also used the Hydrate collection and the Gold collection when my hair was blonde. Both worked just as perfectly. I use samples of the curl brand as well whenever I know I am going to curl my hair and have noticed a difference in how long the curls last. This is one of the pricier brands (about $20 a bottle if I remember correctly) on this guide but definitely one of my favorites and the best shampoo you could use for your hair because it is sulfate free and you would be surprised the difference it can make if you have never tried it.
Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo
This sulfate free shampoo is the cheaper alternative to Pureology if you can’t afford it. It is much cheaper (about $6 a bottle) and works pretty well. I use it regularly and have noticed a huge difference when compared to the days I have to go back to regular shampoo. I think it is just under Pureology in terms of quality. You might notice it feels like it dries out your hair when using the shampoo but that is because it is literally lifting away impurities as it cleans. Once you use the conditioner then dry your hair, you will notice that it is shinier and healthier looking than before. It is also safe color treated hair because it is sulfate free. It won’t strip away any of the color. I have used it on the henna dyed hair for over a year and it has done no damage.
A Mini Flat Iron
I bought my first one of these earlier this year and it has been a life changer. I have a short bob hair style and I use my mini iron for everything. I straighten my hair AND I use it to curl my short hair. I mini flat iron is incredibly versatile and every girl should have one. I have used it to sculpt amazing curls that I would never be able to do with a curling iron and it is much smaller and easier to handle. I also use it to style my bangs which are now in blunt across the forehead style. Then I use it to keep my hair at the bottom from flipping out all the time. So many uses and a definite must have in your beauty collection. I like this from Urban Outfitters, the only thing to look out for is make sure you get one with a cord that swivels otherwise it will get twisted all the time and be very annoying.
Burt’s Bees Facial Towelettes with White Tea Extract
At the end of the day the last thing I want to do is go through a rigorous face cleaning routine. These face cleaning wipes from Burt’s Bees are the absolutely best. I have never felt so refreshed and clean by a face wipe before. It is even better than if I actually clean my face with my regular products. The white tea extract smells really good so you end up feeling relaxed and just clean. I also think it just works really well. I have really oily skin in the summer and it helps keep breakouts at bay and in the winter my skin gets very dry and cracked and these wipes keep my face moisturized (I also use a moisturizing cream in the mornings during the winter.) Overall these are great for any type of skin and are great to keep on hand for those types you just don’t feel like going thorugh the normal skin cleaning procedure.
