First Time Mom’s Guide: Review – First Years Smart Warmer

Depending on your situation a bottle warmer may be a top list item on your baby registry.  Even if it is not a top item on your list, you may be thinking about whether getting one or doing things the old fashioned way.  However, a bottle warmer is actually really worth it!

There are several specific brand bottle warmers that will fit their bottles or containers specifically.  Some warmers only do bottles and not containers which can be a bit of a waste when you are moving on to solids or soft baby foods.  With the First Years Smart Warmer it combines the best of all worlds into one nice machine that I’m glad to  have picked up.  When you have a screaming baby demanding a bottle sometimes convincing the baby to have the patience to wait is not an option.

Like all standard bottle warmers the Smart Warmer will heat your bottles to optimal temperature meaning there is no guess work as to whether the bottle is heated enough or is too hot.  But the main reason I choose the Smart Warmer was due to its versatility and that I would never need to measure water whenever I put a bottle in.  The Smart Warmer has a wide opening to accommodate any type of bottle without there being any worry of bottles tipping or being heated unevenly.  It also has an extra accessory for smaller bottles and containers.  The First Years Smart Warmer is not larger then any other brands standard bottle warmer so you will not have to worry about it taking up precious counter space that may be getting filled by drying bottles and other baby accessories.

While the price point on the Smart Warmer is higher then other standard brand bottle warmers I find its capabilities and controls put it above all other warmers.  Not only will you never have to worry about the type of bottle or container you use and whether it will fit, but you will never have to measure out water for the type of bottle  or ounces of formula, breast milk or food you have.  Anything to save a bit of time or guess work earns extra points in my book.

The controls of the Smart Warmer may be daunting at first, but there seems to be option for just about anything you would need to warm up.  There are options not just for formula and breast milk  but also baby food, you have options of bottles or containers, the number of ounces, and whether the item is frozen, from the fridge or at room temperature.  The Smart Warmer will even remember your last settings you used, so if you are always using the same type of bottle, food type, ounces, and at the same temperature you have just saved yourself some precious time.

With the side water reservoir you also save the need for correctly guessing or remembering the right amount of water you would need.  The Smart Warmer removes that guesswork for you and calculates what you need by your selections.  If you ever are going away or baby is being babysat this warmer will help any uncertain sitter.  It is also nice that everything can be repacked and put into its box if baby is staying over at someone’s house for the night or a couple of days.  I enjoy that this warmer has the versatility to handle many types of food as well as different types of containers.  This way if I get a different brand of containers as a gift and they are different from the bottles I am using I will not need to worry about having to return the containers.  And anything that makes life easier with baby is well worth the extra bit of money, especially when it could last you well beyond the first year.
