Today we are proud to bring you an exclusive interview with Lauren Taylor interview where she talks about “Richie Rich” from Netflix, acting and “Best Friends Whenever” from Disney. Stay tuned as Lauren is poised to be a HUGE star.
BSCKids:Lauren
Lauren, can you tell us a little bit about your character on the new “Richie Rich” series?
Harper is a Harvard-bound brainiac who tends to be a little jealous and angry at times.
Have you read any of the comics or watched any of the other Richie Rich shows?
Absolutely! I grew up watching so much Macaulay Culkin!
Jake Brennan had a big role to follow after Macaulay Culkin killed it in the movie version. How do you think Jake is doing as Richie Rich?
Macaulay definitely set a high bar, but I think Jake is doing a great job at following it.
When did you first decide you wanted to act? How did you get the part on the show?
I decided I wanted to professionally act about three years ago. Before that, I did a lot of musical theater, but never even thought I could be on tv.
Do you share any similarities with your character?
I don’t really share any similarities with Harper, which is what made her such a fun role to play!
Were there any funny behind-the-scene stories you can share with us while filming?
In episode two of the first season, I was wearing the dress made out of duct tape and during filming it was always falling apart! It was hilarious!
What else do you watch on Netflix?
I’m a huge Netflix fan. I love Parks and Rec, House of Cards, 30 Rock, and Arrested Development!
Who is currently playing on your iPod?
Lots of The 1975, Foster the People, and The Neighbourhood.
Who have been your favorite actor/actress that you’ve met and what have you learned from them?
I had the opportunity to work with Anthony Anderson on the show. He was a really funny and kind guy.
Any advice for other children getting into acting?
If you’re really passionate about acting, make sure you work hard and surround yourself with positive people and you will be successful.
If you had as much money as Richie, what would you do with it?
I would start an animal rescue… but not your typical animal rescue. I would get a huge farm in the middle of rural California and I would foster hundreds of types of animals with my mom… I would also buy a Tesla!
Can you tell us some of your hobbies?
I love to play electric guitar and sing. I’m currently making some music that I can hopefully share soon!
Tell us why everyone should tune into the second season of “Richie Rich”!
The second season is super fun and there’s a lot more heart in it.
How is your work going on “Best Friends Whenever”? How is it working with Landry?
Best Friends Whenever is going incredibly! I’ve worked with Landry before, so we’ve known each other a while 🙂
What would you say is your favorite Disney show of all time (past or present) and why (excluding your upcoming show of course)?
I think my favorite Disney Channel show growing up was either That’s So Raven or Lizzie McGuire. Those were amazing!
Special thanks to Lauren Taylor at taking the time out of her busy schedule to speak with us.
Lauren Taylor, a southern California native, stars in the brand new Disney Channel series “Best Friends Whenever” as the ever-so cheerful dreamer ‘Shelby.’ The series centers on teenagers ‘Shelby’ (Taylor) and ‘Cyd’ (Landry Bender), who when a science experiment goes wrong, become unstuck in time, leaping forward and backward whenever they want—and sometimes even when they don’t. Now with the help of their next-door neighbor, teenage genius Barry (Kamp), the girls must learn to master their awesome new power as they time-shift through high school. The blonde-haired, blue eyed beauty, whose comedic timing steals the show, is not only a talented actress but also a singer/songwriter who has opened for some of today’s musical legends.
Lauren has enjoyed a budding career in music before landing her dream Disney role. She began performing in musical theatre at age eight in school and community productions. She went on to compete in a 12-part chamber a cappella choir in middle school, which led to performances across the country, including Carnegie Hall. At fourteen, she started singing for the San Diego Symphony Summer Pop Concert Series and opened for acclaimed musical artists Michael Bolton, Wilson Phillips, Debbie Gibson and Vanessa Williams.
Lauren, wanting to perform across multiple platforms, turned her attention to acting, booking commercials for Disney Nintendo, Panda Express, Iowa Healthcare and Unity Healthcare. In 2014, Lauren landed the lead in the Disney pilot “Fairest of the Mall.” Next, she landed the role of ‘Harper Rich’ in the Netflix original series “Richie Rich” and completed filming two seasons, which are now available for live streaming.
Lauren is proud to be an honor student. She is also a veteran competitive cheerleader and has excelled in competitive lacrosse and soccer. She holds anti-bullying as a cause close to her heart, having been bullied herself, as well as animal rights. She strives to bring attention to the cause through her acting and music by inspiring people to stand up for themselves and others. In her spare time, she enjoys making music, including writing songs and playing guitar, going to the beach, watching movies and spending time with her friends.
Taylor currently resides in southern California with her mother, twin brothers Conner and Jordan, their Chocolate Lab Hanna and two cats Mojo and Baby.
