Meet the Thundermans, a not-so average family whose #1 concern is trying to keep their super-human quirks under wraps and lead a normal life. Difficult much? You betcha! Especially when the two oldest siblings — Phoebe and Max — share a healthy rivalry that’s turbocharged by their top-notch powers! Yup, this whole ‘fitting-in’ business may just take a little longer than expected…
BSCkids: Addison Riecke
Addison, since we last talked to you in 2013 can you fill us in on what you have been up to?
It’s crazy that 2 years have gone by since we last talked. We finished filming Season 2 of Thundermans in December, and we recently found out that we have been picked up for Season 3! We start production in mid April.
During hiatus breaks, I go back to school in Louisiana. I love getting to see all of my friends from home. I am also in the process of writing a children’s book.
How has your piano and guitar playing improved since then 🙂 ?
I actually started playing the ukulele since we last talked. I am really into that right now. Kira Kosarin, who plays my sister on the show, taught me how to play and I absolutely love it! It is my favorite instrument at the moment. I am hoping to learn the drums next.
How is your work on the Thundermans going? What has been your favorite story on the show so far?
There are so many episodes that I have loved over the last 2 seasons! It makes me really excited to see what will happen during the writing of Season 3! We have really grown as individual actors and our characters have taken on some pretty interesting scenarios.
My all time favorite story for Nora has been when she gets accepted into a prep school, but ultimately she decides it is not for her. The writers on the show are so great!
Who is currently playing on your iPod?
I seriously love every genre of music. I listen to everything from Alternative to Rap. I have Bastille, Imagine Dragons, Iggy Azalea, LeCrae, and Jeff Buckley on heavy rotation on my iPhone. I could never get tired of listening to music.
Who has been your favorite actor/actress you have met and what have you learned from them?
I have had the opportunity to meet some really great actors/actresses. I have loved following Bailee Madison’s career. She is so talented, and she is also a really good person at heart.
Do you get recognized on the street, what is your best fan story?
I have gotten noticed on the street, which still catches me by surprise. The best fan story would probably be at the Atlanta airport. I was followed by a really sweet little girl off of the terminal tram. The little girl asked if she could give Nora a hug. I love hugs, so I said “of course”! I think it is the bow that usually gives me away.
I don’t look at myself as a TV star. I am just Addison Riecke from Covington, Louisiana, that has been blessed with the opportunity to do what I love on TV.
If you could have a career like someone in acting who would it be like?
Like music, I have a range of different actresses that I love watching and would like to follow in their footsteps. For comedy, I absolutely love Kristen Wiig. I love her SNL character Gilly…so funny!!! I am starting classes at the Groundlings next month, so who knows, one day I may end up on SNL myself! For drama, I love watching Jennifer Lawrence. She is an incredible actress.
Any advice for other children getting into acting?
I think it is important for everyone, whether in acting or in sports, to not get discouraged and give up. There will be disappointments along the journey, that’s almost a guarantee. Don’t give up, great things take time. Also, always stay true to who you are.
What is/was your favorite Nickelodeon show, besides your own show and why?
I really do love watching other Nickelodeon shows (Nicky Ricky Dicky & Dawn, Henry Danger, Haunted Hathaways, Bella & the Bulldogs). Some of my best friends in the industry are on Nickelodeon shows, so I love watching them do their thing. I also love cartoons from the ’90s that were on Nickelodeon like CatDog, Rugrats, and all the others!
Tell us why everyone should tune into the Thundermans?
I am so excited about our upcoming 1 hour special, which will air before the KidsChoice Awards, on March 28th. The Thundermans confront a new family dynamic that changes their lives forever and they face being exposed after someone close to them learns their family secret.
It was one of my favorite episodes to film this season. It will really be one that EVERYONE will want to tune in to watch.
