BSCkids: Jayden Maddux
How supportive has your family been about your acting career?
My mother has been very supportive of my acting. She always wants to make sure that I am enjoying acting and that I am doing what makes me happy.
What is your character like on the series, “Bunheads?”
My character’s name is Dougie Winkleburn. He is a high energy kind of kid that is always seen running through scenes.
Do you share any similarities with your character in the show?
I am very similar to Dougie because we both have a lot of energy.
You also play Young Buster in the series, “Arrested Development.” What was it like working on such a beloved series?
It was very fun and an honor to be included in the exciting new release of the show. I also had a blast working with the show’s creator, Mitch Hurwitz.
Did you learn anything from the other actors on the series?
I learned that you always have to stay in character and just keep going if you mess up. What I love about television and film is that usually, you can do another take to get it right.
Tell us about your film, “Joshua Tree.”
Joshua Tree was my first experience on film. I was only 4 years old so it was all so new! It’s about a bad guy trying to do better in his life. I play the lost son of Ray, the main character. My character’s name was River.
What is your process for getting in to character before each show or movie you work on?
When I prepare to be a character I always concentrate. I change how I speak, learn about things he likes and doesn’t like and focus on taking his view on life.
Do you prefer working on movies or television shows more?
I prefer working on movies but love them both. When you film a movie you get to be on set longer and have a lot of fun.
You have appeared in several shows since you started acting, which has been your favorite?
My favorite show so far was Childrens Hospital. In that show, I got to do a stunt, with a real stunt man! It was so cool. I met some great people on the set and had a great week filming!
How do you balance being in school and an actor?
All of my auditions happen after school, so I do my homework in the car so that when I do get home after my long day, I have time to relax and have fun with my family & friends!
Do your friends treat you any differently since becoming an actor?
No they don’t, but many of them say that want to be actors too!
If you could work with one celebrity who would it be and why?
Christian Bale is the actor I most want to work with. I loved him as Batman, not only because I love Batman, but he does stunts and is the coolest actor ever.
What are your hobbies outside of acting?
When I’m not at school or on the set, I love to do Parkour (Free running) which I do every week.
