BSCKids attended the Summer Fancy Food Show® 2013 to search for Kids Snacks, Drinks, and Gluten-Free Kids Options to introduce to families. We boiled that list down into our top 10 products and out of those 10, 8 of them are Gluten-Free.
Jen & Joe’s Cookie Dough Gourmet Frozen Cookies – These cookies are packaged so that you can put them in the oven one at a time or if you have a few more kids around, enough cookies to make everyone happy. Gourmet homestyle cookie dough. Frozen into individual servings and ready to bake anytime. Always real eggs and butter. Never any artificial colors, flavors, additives or preservatives. The classic flavors are here like Chocolate Chunk, Lemon Drop and Snickerdoodle. They bring some fun flavors like White Chocolate Wasabi, Chocolate Spice and Oatmeal Toffee to round out the offering.
Caramel Baked Corn Snack / Cosmos Creations – A caramel based alternative to Caramel Corn for the kids is a baked corn creation. The benefits to kids with braces are enormous, but even those without the gear will find this Gluten-Free snack tasty. The Salted Caramel Flavor was great with the baked corn providing a nice texture. Plus you get to avoid the hulls and kernels. No broken teeth here…
Organicasaurus and BOPS / Good Boy Organics – Organicasaurus is a baked organic corn snack that is Gluten Free and has a cheddar cheese flavor in the shapes of dinosaurs. The shapes are really what make this fun for the kids. BOPS are a healthier alternative to chips, and are a baked potato crisp that is Gluten-Free and has 65% less fat. Taste was on par with regular chips.
Oatworks / Oatworks – A Vegan friendly, Gluten-Free, Dairy free, oat-powered natural smoothie is just a great idea. At home we will sometimes add oatmeal to our smoothies, but for all those times when you can’t make your own we have Oatworks. Currently with three flavors, Strawberry Banana, Peach Mango, Pomegranate Blueberry, we tasted them all and give them the thumbs up. Makes a great snack to pack in a lunch box, and while it tastes better when refrigerated it is not necessary, making it a valuable tool to get your kids to drink something healthy.
Hint Fizz / Hint – Unsweetened Sparkling Water. Refreshing. No Calories. We rarely give our children soda, and honestly flavored seltzer from the supermarket just doesn’t do it for them. With Hint Fizz you have a great alternative to soda infused with Blackberry, Peach, Strawberry-Kiwi, or my favorite Watermelon flavors.
GoPicnic GoPicnic Ready-to-Eat Meals / GoPicnic – These come in handy in our house when the kids are going on a trip or when we just don’t have time to make them lunch. They are balanced meals that are ready to eat and there are 15 varieties including some Gluten-Free, Vegan, Kosher meals. While the kids favorite may be the Turkey Pepperoni & Cheese, I enjoyed the Black Bean Dip & Plantain Chips.
Just Veggies / Just Tomatoes, Ect.! – 100% Natural Crunch & Delicious. Get Your Daily Veggies! You can use these to throw into meatloaf, soups and other full meals, but what we liked about the product is that it just tastes great as a snack as well. It is also a very easy way to get your kids to eat their vegetables, you just tell them they have to eat a handful of Just Veggies and you feel better as a parent. They taste good so that you aren’t going to have those arguments you normally have with your kids to eat their vegetables. Gluten-Free, Dairy, Wheat and Nut Free as well.
“World’s Best” Gluten Free Mac & Cheese / Beecher’s – When you taste a product and say you would eat this over non Gluten-Free products you know you have a winner. Beecher’s just has some of the best cheese in the business and that is where they started, so making the transition to Mac & Cheese was an easy one for the company. If you are looking for a Gluten-Free Mac & Cheese product look no further you have found the best.
Butter and Cheesemaking Kits / Roaring Brook Dairy – We thought these were great summer projects for the kids, with our little one being able to do the butter and the older boys being able to do the cheese.
Gluten Free Cookies / WOW Baking Company – We have tasted tons of Gluten-Free cookies over the years and unless we were forced to eat them, we would always go for the regular variety. Well that has no changed as these are the BEST Gluten-Free cookies we have ever had. If you have someone with a gluten allergy and the rest of the family does not, these are cookies that everyone will enjoy. Our favorites were the Lemon Burst, followed by Snickerdoodle. A nice chewy cookie with amazing flavor.
