I have a son that does not like cakes, cupcakes, cookies or really any type of baked goods for dessert, so we are always having a tough time trying to figure out what to let him have besides candy. Welch’s Filled Licorice By Frankford Candy has really stepped up to the plate with a fun treat that combines a bit of licorice and a bit of jelly in the middle.
While all of our children liked the product (2 sons, 1 daughter) our non backed good son absolutely LOVED the product. He asked to make sure that we were going to start stocking these full-time in our household and I would agree with him. I liked both of the flavors myself, grape and strawberry, with a slight preference for the grape myself. The licorice isn’t too hard, and there is just enough of the filling to let you know that it is there, but no so much that you are worried about getting it all over yourself. I always feel that a snack needs to keep the mess to a minimum and we are good with that. Plus unlike the regular fruit snacks that I child may lose one or two, or they fall out of their hands, they only have to concentrate on one thing (licorice stick) at a time, which is helpful on the run.
Depending on your child, or maybe even yourself, you may end up with a little bit of sticky hands, but it will well be worth it. Welch’s Filled Licorice make a great take along snack, or something to pack in your child’s lunchbox.
