Hunger Games fans might have to deal with a Twilight hunk in Catching Fire! Lionsgate is reportedly rumored to want Robert Pattinson to get the plum role of Finnick Odair. While many have said no Twilight Saga stars would be in the movies, they could be biting their own words. Finnick who is a previous victor and returns for the Third Quarter Quell is a role that many are dying to see filled. However, fans of both sagas have been vocal about their wishes for no vampire actors to be in this story. Here is what TotalFilm reports.
Word is that Lionsgate want Pattinson and his prodigious cheekbones to take on the role of Finnick Odair, a former tribute with an eye for the ladies, who gets dragged into the Third Quarter Quell (a Hunger Games contested by previous winners)…the fact that his Water For Elephants collaborator Francis Lawrence is now filling the director’s chair could make this one a goer.
Lionsgate responded with this message that neither denies nor confirms the rumor.
As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce.
I have a feeling a whole lot of protesting will follow this story. I personally do not see why they would want to type cast him in teen films, when he clearly states that he wants more adult roles. I would think that Lionsgate would respect that, but at the same time it would be a very different role from the role of Edward. I have no doubt that he may enjoy such a tough acting role, yet we all know that he wants so much more for his career now.
Do you support Lionsgate on this or not? Who do you want to play the role of Finnick? I am not sure, I would like to think they would find a fresh face and give him a great start to his career. However, Lionsgate is wanting to make sure that they max out their top dollar potential and Robert Pattinson would help boost that, even if it does come at a high price of them. I suppose all we can do is wait to see what will happen next.
