BSCkids recently sat down with young actress Kaitlyn Jenkins to talk about her new show, “Bunheads.” The plot follows a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man, moves to his sleepy coastal town, and takes an uneasy role at her new mother-in-law’s dance school. The show will premiere on ABC Family on June 11, 2012.
Kaitlyn will be starring in her series as Bettina Jordan, one of the students in the dance studio. Kaitlyn herself is an accomplished dancer, singer, and actor. At a young age she also won Best Female Actress at The Children’s Temecula Film Festival. She specializes in Ballet and Contemporary dance. This multi-talented young woman also plays the piano and enjoys aerobics, martial arts, gymnastics and swimming. You will not want to miss seeing this gifted actress as she makes a name for herself.
What can you tell us about your new series,”Bunheads?”
Itʼs called “Bunheads,” but itʼs not just a show about dancing, itʼs also a lot about friendships. Every week our viewers will see how we deal with those friendships and other personal struggles inside and outside of the classroom.
What do you think makes the series so appealing to young girls?
“Bunheads” fans will find this show appealing because thereʼs either a dancer or situation on the show that they can relate to.
Do you share any similarities with your character on the show?
Totally, Boo and I are alike in so many ways. We both work hard and have a deep desire to perfect what we love to do. Sometimes itʼs weird when I read a script and see Boo handle a situation the same way I would! She and I really connect 🙂
Which do you love doing more, dancing or acting?
Each one requires a different passion, so itʼs really hard choose which one I love more. I guess I love it best when I get to do both at the same time, like on “Bunheads!”
Do you plan to continue ballet/theater work along side your on screen work?
Right now I want to concentrate on my screen work but if a ballet or theater opportunity came up I would definitly consider it!
Other than your show, what TV series is your favorite right now?
There are too many great shows out right now so I donʼt really have a favorite, but, old cartoons like Scooby-Doo really make my day!
Are there any celebrities you are dying to meet?
I would be ecstatic to meet ANY celebrity, but Amanda Seyfried and Jason Dolley were two that I always had on my list of “must meet” celebs.
What has been your favorite project to work on?
Filming “Bunheads” is my favorite project so far, hands down!!! Every day I have such a great time with my co-stars on set and I feel so lucky just to part of it.
We have a cereal review site, so we were wondering, what is YOUR favorite breakfast cereal?
When I was in high school my best friend nick named me “Special K,” so of course thatʼs my favorite cereal, but I grew up loving Trix.
