When I See Me! reached out to us, I knew this was going to be a great product for the whole family; now the question was what book would we choose to get for the youngest of our family. Our baby girl is in love with princesses and My Very Own Fairy Tale, written by Maia Haag and illustrated by Joyce Patti, is the perfect fit.
The first page of the book tells whom the book was made for (out baby girl’s name) and even gives the date, which is nice to remember when the book was received. After an introduction you are introduced to a fairy that starts with the letters of your child’s name. What I found nice is the left hand page builds on the name so for us the first fairy started with an L and the next fairy with a U, but on the left page you would get Lu. That way you can follow along and the child learns to spells their name as well as reading a story and being introduced to some great artwork.
Before they start on the last name there is a little more of the story and then we are introduced to the fairies that will spell out the last name. A great touch in the book was the fairy for the letter “C” in her first name was not the same fairy in her last name, so they are not just recycling one fairy for each letter of the alphabet. In the back of the book they even included a glossary of all the fairies for each letter of the alphabet. So for the letters that are not in your child’s name, they can still read up on them.
Our boys have a great time reading this to our daughter who just loves to see and hear her name being spelled. I See Me! books are wonderfully done and make a great present!
Check out the I See Me! website for other types of books including some very cool birthday books, pirate books, and sibling books among many others.
Fairies bring letters one by one to spell out your child’s first and last name in rhyme. At the end of this beautifully illustrated story, they crown her to be their fairy princess.
