Emma Fuhrmann Talks The Magic of Belle Isle – Interview

BSCkids recently got the chance to sit down and chat with young actress Emma Fuhrmann. The talented 10-year-old recently finished filming her film, The Magic of Belle Isle, in which she has the starring role along side Morgan Freeman. She spoke with us about working with Freeman, her role in the film, and what movies she is looking forward to this summer. 

Emma currently resides in Texas but continues to work on various projects as she hones her acting ability. She began her career modeling as an 18-month old. Even though she enjoyed the modeling, as soon as learned to read she gravitated toward acting. Emma first appeared on the pilot episode of NBC series “Chase” as Sissy Peele. She later also appeared in NBC’s show, “Prime Suspect.”

What is your film, The Magic of Belle Isle about?

The movie is a really fun, family friendly movie!  It’s about Morgan Freeman’s character, Monte, who moves in next door to my family for the summer.  Our lives are brought together in various ways and my character becomes really intrigued by “Monte” and seeks his help with a few things and in the end all of our lives are forever changed by the events that take place on the lake over the summer.

Do you share any personality similarities with your character in the film?

My character is Finnegan O’Neil and she is all tom boy!  Finnegan is good with a hammer and a nail and building things out of wood (as you will see in the movie).  About the only thing we have in common is that we both love to be outdoors!  I actually am a member of the YMCA Adventure Guides which is a father/daughter camping program so I would say we share an adventurous side!!

You worked with Morgan Freeman on your latest project; did you learn any tips from him about acting?

Working with Mr. Freeman for my first big film project was a dream come true!  I would spend a lot of time just watching him work!  One thing I learned was to repeat my lines under my breath, out loud, to commit them to memory.  He would do that and I tried it and it really worked.  He also would run lines with me anytime I needed him to.  He was great to work with!

What has been your favorite project to work on so far?

Hands down, The Magic of Belle Isle!!!! How do you top that??

If you could meet any celebrity right now, who would it be?

If I could meet any celebrity it would have to be Taylor Swift, she has this amazing talent and has stayed so humble and sweet!

Who is your favorite musician/band?

My favorite musicians are Adele and Taylor Swift.  Their songs never grow old and they always make me want to sing out loud, which I do a lot!  🙂

Other than your film hitting theaters, are there any movies you are excited to see?

I’m actually excited to see the Pixar movie BRAVE this summer!  I really enjoyed their film Wall-E even though it  didn’t get a lot of followers.  I will also have to see THE DARK KNIGHT RISES because Mr. Freeman is in it!  🙂  But of course, my film is tops on my list!!

Do you ever want to move out to LA or do you prefer to stay in Texas?

I would love to move to LA but I don’t think my parents are ready for that yet!  We spend a lot of time there and I’m sure someday we will have to make that decision but for now Texas is home!

We have a cereal review site, so we were wondering, what is YOUR favorite breakfast cereal?

My favorite cereal is Honey Nut Cheerios- yum!
