Orphaned scholarship student Teru is bullied by the rich kid student council members at her school and while she has friends, she feels alone in the world. When her older brother lay dying, he gave her a cell phone and told her that if she ever needed help, ‘Daisy’ could be contacted through the phone and would be there to support her. Teru assumes that Daisy is one of her brother’s friends and doesn’t want to impose, but when she accidentally breaks a school window and has to work for the lazy school custodian to pay off the cost, she finds herself in a series of predicaments that call for Daisy’s assistance. Daisy proves to be capable of anything if it keeps Teru safe, including computer hacking and threatening pedophilic teachers and snotty bullies.
Who is this mysterious protector and why is he so concerned that she “find happiness”? Could it be the sluggish custodian Kurosaki, who makes Teru work like a dog but watches her carefully and with concern, taking care of her when she’s sick and making sure she has enough to eat? This dramatic mystery is full of sarcastic fun, as many manga readers might expect. Daisy is revealed by the end of volume one, but the reasons behind his interest in Teru only begin to be explained. In true manga fashion, there is a side story about – what else? – the color of Teru’s underwear. Rated T+ (Older Teen)
