Dinosaurs Are Going To Eat Someone – Terra Nova Review

Terra Nova is the new sci-fi show that premiered on Fox. It premiered on September 26, 2011 with a two-hour episode called “Genesis Part 1 & 2”. The show is executive produced by Steven Spielberg.

Firstly, I have to say, this show has so much potential that I was a little bit disappointed by the premier. The first episodes premier was way to long! I thought 2 hours was so long! I found myself not being able to sit still and watch the premier without picking up my phone to text, or my tablet to check my emails and Facebook. I just couldn’t stay focused on it.

It did pick up though during the second hour. The opening hour of the show, was a little slow, a little boring and little lame in parts…

Although, the CG was pretty fantastic. That is one thing this show is right. The dinosaurs LOOK fantastic so far. They move like what I imagine they would at least, which is a plus. And the terra nova portal they built looked amazing. So far that is one big plus for the show, the CG.

I don’t know what parent, or child, however, would just go running into the woods of a new PLANET they have never seen before, been on before, or even really know much about. That youngest little girl, Zoe, must have been seriously brave (or written that way for sake of the show) to run out there and play with a dinosaur. I mean, when I was that age I would have NEVER played pick up with a giant freaking dinosaur.

The son, Josh, confused me. He said he was all in love with his girlfriend in the space station, but the first time a pretty girl his age bats her eyes at him he runs off after her? What the heck? And what does this cause him? He gets almost eaten by a slasher dinosaur. He doesn’t even know her, or her friends, and he is on a new PLANET. He shouldn’t leave the compound and he obviously just forgot about the girl on the ship. I hope he gets smarter about things. Or a dinosaur WILL eat him. For Real.

With that said, Terra Nova does do a good job about opening mysteries and creating suspense. Like I said, the second hour was way better than the first. Will they die or wont they, is always a good story line. And also characters in the story reference things that haven’t been explained yet, thus creating suspense and intrigue for many more episodes to come.

I hope the next few episodes are better than the premier was. I had high hopes and don’t want to be disappointed by show that can be so totally awesome.
