Today, MacKayla Hunter performed at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville, TN. After the concert she had an “eat and greet” with a contest winner. BSCkids was lucky enough to be able to get a few minutes to interview her. MacKayla was a very sweet girl. I loved meeting her and I think she has amazing talent! I have included a few pictures, a music video and a few interview questions.

How long have you been writing your own songs?
Well I actually write all of my songs myself. I first started when I was 12. My dad taught me three chords on the guitar and I actually wrote my first song with only those three chords.
Where do you get your inspiration for your songs?
They are all from personal experience. I write things I know about. I wrote a few adoption songs because my brothers are adopted. My sister also got married so I wrote a love song about that. But I can also write songs about other peoples experiences and stories.
Where has been your favorite place to perform so far?
Well we have only been to three places so far! But Myrtle Beach was really beautiful. Nashville has been great. They are just very different places to be in.
How did you like performing at the Hard Rock Café?
I loved it! The environment is really great here; I mean you are
surrounded by music when you are here.
Do you ever get nervous playing in front of the large crowds?
Oh absolutely! Every time actually. Back stage I’m pacing back and forth and I have to give myself a little pep talk before I go out there. But when I get out there on stage I can feel the energy and I love it.
You’ve chosen a life and a career that is going to last so what is the best thing so far about this career?
So many things! I love being able to perform my music. But I think it’s also that I can use my music to be a good influence on younger kids who listen to my songs. Like to follow your dreams. To be happy.
