BSCkids.com has been real lucky lately with the interviews, as we got an opportunity to talk with Mindless Behavior, a group of teens that are just killing it. The remix of My Girl which you can find at the end of the interview has been stuck in my head for days, and the fact that they have been able to work with such talent as Ciara, Tyga, and Lil Twist is testament to their skills. We will be hearing alot about Mindless Talent for a very long time, so why don’t we let you get acquainted with the group.
Mindless Behavior is a dynamic group of young men armed with limitless talent, drive, energy and a fearless passion for music and performing. Barely into their teens, has the quartetโs energetic fusion of pop, hip hop, and R&B quite simply had the potential to transform the entire musical landscape as we know it.
Comprised of four spirited 13 year old boys โ Prodigy, Roc Royal, Ray Ray and Princeton โ Mindless Behavior employs an insane sleek and futuristic fashion style, epic dance moves, and global-ready pop songs. Their sound resonates with lush harmonies and messages that speak to listeners of all ages.
BSCkids (Damon): So how did you guys come up with the name Mindless Behavior? Were there some other names that just didn’t make the cut?
Princeton: Part of our management team Keisha Gamble & Walter Millsap actually came up with the name Mindless Behavior so when we auditioned they thought it would be perfect to describe our movement and that we had the right personalities for the concept.
BSCkids (Damon): What about your own stage names? Did you pick them or did you get them from someone else while growing up?
Princeton: My managers started calling me Princeton because I love reading, an learning new things.
Ray Ray: My family nicknamed me Ray Ray when I was little, and since I’m known as the pretty boy of the group the team thought it would be a good fit.
Prodigy: Our managers named me Prodigy because when it comes to music & dancing I learn very quickly.
Roc Royal: Well I got the Name Roc Because I love to give 100% and I never give up on things. The Royal side of me is my more sensitive side for the girls… Lol
BSCkids (Damon): How would you categorize your music? Hip Hop, Pop or something else?
Princeton: the best way to describe our music would be to say that it is a fusion of both Pop & RnB and definitely Mindless.
BSCkids (Damon): So how involved do you let your parents get in your career? I know at your age you probably feel like you are ready to take on the world.
Ray Ray: yes we definitely want to make the world a more Mindless place & every time we visit a city we call it the MB takeover on our twitter. But our parents are important to our careers they support us 100% and are always there when we need them.
BSCkids (Damon): How involved are you in picking out your clothes for shows and video shoots? Do you have final say on that?
Roc Royal: Part of our management team Keisha Gamble handles all of our styling & she’s knows our personalities so well that she always gets us things we love.
BSCkids (Damon): So the Video for My Girl is hot, what was it like working with Ciara, Tyga and Lil Twist?
Prodigy: It was amazing Lil Twist & Tyga are really cool and fun to work with.
Princeton: yes, and Ciara is beautiful overall it was a great experience.
BSCkids (Damon): Any fun stories from what went on behind the camera?
Roc Royal: We had a lot of our friends on the set so we were laughing almost the whole time. It was a fun day.
BSCkids (Damon):You have already toured and worked with some big names, Who would you like to work with next?
Prodigy: I’d love to work with Usher & Chris Brown.
Roc Royal: I think it would be cool if we could tour with Willow
Princeton: Kanye West would be fun to work with too.
Ray Ray: I agree. ๐
BSCkids (Damon): What about school work? How do you all take care of your education? How important do you think getting a good education is?
Princeton: Were all homeschooled & our education is important plus we have to keep good grades to do this job. So we study for 4 hours everyday and do homework for 3 hours so it’s a full day like most kids.
BSCkids (Damon): Do you see boy groups making a comeback? Do you feel you are the next generation of boy bands?
Princeton: Yes the head of our production Company Walter Millsap showed us tons of stuff on boy bands like New Edition, the Jackson 5, B2K, New kids on the block, N’Sync, and BAck Street Boys who we’ve been lucky enough to tour with. All these bands were great and unique. I definitely think boy bands are making a come back & I believe we’ll be able to do for our generation what those bands did for theirs. So were excited to be here.
BSCkids (Damon): Do you feel like social media like Twitter and Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with fans or sometimes is it too much to always be on the radar like that? We obviously know some musicians have stopped using Twitter only to come back.
Ray Ray: No I don’t think it’s too much we love talking on Twitter and Facebook when we can our fans are important an we like knowing stuff about them too.
BSCkids (Damon): Besides girls and music what are your other hobbies ๐ ?
Prodigy: I like to go to the movies, hang out with my family, and eat.
Princeton: I love to read ,write poetry, Go shopping, or look up cool stuff online.
Ray Ray: I love to draw, ride my skateboard, go to the movies, or watch Dvd’s at home.
Roc Royal: I love to play outside spend time with my dogs, ride my skateboard, and play video games.
BSCkids (Damon): What have you bought for yourself since becoming famous? Who already has their favorite car picked out for when they can drive?
Princeton: I haven’t really bought myself anything major, but the car I want is an old 1970’s Volkswagen Bus
Ray Ray: I bought my very own art pencil set it was sort of expensive but worth it because I love to draw.
Prodigy: I love jackets and sweaters so I bought some cool jackets in London, and I hope to get a Lamborghini one day.
Roc Royal: I bought myself a new PsP game and about 5 new video games. Don’t have a favorite car right now.
BSCkids (Damon) You all have different hair styles, all awesome in their own way. How do you take care of your hair while you are on the road?
Princeton; on the road I just wash it in the shower once a week and put some glaze in it once in a while and let it go.
Roc Royal: For the rest of us we have a groomer named Kenyatta that hooks it up for us on the road.
BSCkids (Damon): What is next for Mindless Behavior?
