Sippy Sure – Review

For everyone who has kids, how many of you have been through the following:  You need to give your child some liquid medicine, and they are not so happy about the prospect, no matter how good you tell them it tastes?  So, as we know, many things can happen after that.  You may need to have a chaser cup of juice nearby, which a fair amount of the time gets all over the place.  That is if they do not gulp too much juice and then spit out both medicine and juice combined.  Even worse they may refuse to take it, and then you have a real fun time trying to either trick them into taking it or as a last resort you may have to force them to take it, which is never fun for anyone.  Sippy Sure has come to the rescue and has a solution to this problem.

Sippy Sure® is a patented spill-proof medication dispensing Sippy Cup designed to help parents give medicine to their sick children easier and with less stress! Sippy Sure® is made of high impact FDA food grade plastic. It is BPA free and dishwasher safe.

Children ages 1-5, can be the most difficult to give medicine to. Sippy Sure® has a separate medicine cup inside that holds medicine and as the child drinks a drink from the cup the medicine is mixed with the drink and administered to the child. The medicine and the drink are kept separate at all times until the child actually takes all the medicine. You can see at anytime how much medicine the child has taken by looking at the calibrated medicine bottle inside the cup. The medicine bottle will be marked with ml and tsp calibrations for easy measuring of medication. The cup can be used as a regular sippy cup by removing the medication cup.

We recommend you use Sippy Sure® as your child’s everyday sippy cup. Don’t wait until your child is sick to use it. Sippy Sure® can easily be used as a normal sippy cup by just removing the medicine cup and storing it in a safe place. When I first saw the email for this product, I was quite happy that I might not have to go through this medicine-taking hassle with our new little baby when the time comes.  It is a great solution to a very real problem that parents have.  So how well does it work?  Since I do not have any sick children on hand (thank goodness) I tested the product using a chocolate syrup, mixed to the consistency of cough medicine, and milk (if I was going to test it, I would at least have a nice glass of chocolate milk).  Everything worked as planned!  Chocolate syrup mixed with milk, and I have now completed one dose of chocolate syrup as prescribed by the candy store. 

Now, they do suggest you find a juice that is about the same flavor as the medicine you are giving your child, and I think that is a great idea.  For the younger children they also have a suggestion of letting them use this as a regular sippy cup, and that way when it is time to take medicine, they will not equate the cup as the “medicine” cup.  Another great idea is the Sippy Sure is BPA free.  The only item of note was that after the chocolate liquid was emptied, the empty medicine dispensing portion introduced a bit of air to the system, so it makes sense to take the cup and remove the medicine dispensing portion after the medicine is gone if your child is going to keep sipping from the cup.
