I did a little trial run with the ERGObaby carrier at home when my daughter was about 4 weeks/8 pounds and it seemed she was just not ready for it yet, however once she was 6 or 7 weeks and just a little bigger I felt very comfortable and safe with her in the carrier and she did not fuss at all going into it. My husband wore the carrier for our first walk in the park and other than the pink floral print he was very comfortable wearing the ERGObaby. Before we even made it to the trail, we were stopped by a woman with a stroller asking about the carrier. She recognized it as an ERGObaby carrier but had not tried it and wanted to know how it worked and if it was comfortable, so we told her to check back in at the site in a few days.
We walked about a mile on this first excursion and my husband reported that it became even more comfortable toward the end of the walk. I got a turn to use the carrier on our next walk which we took on a more rustic trail that would not have been suitable for even the most rugged jogging stroller. I also found it to be very comfortable to wear, it was very supportive of my baby’s neck and I felt she was very secure and it did not jostle her around even as I was hiking on very uneven ground. Although she was snug in the infant insert I felt that it in no way covered her in a way that would block airflow or restrict breathing.
