The days are slowly getting shorter, the evenings are becoming darker and, hopefully, some cooler temperatures are finally on the way. Fall is beginning to make itself known, and with it comes a little more time spent indoors together.
Which also means finding something new for everyone to watch.
PBS Distribution is welcoming September with another collection of programming across its PBS subscription channels on Prime Video. From new adventures for younger viewers to mysteries and dramas parents can enjoy once the kids have gone to bed, there are plenty of reasons for families to settle in and enjoy a little more screen time as fall arrives.
For younger viewers, that includes even more adventures with Rosie as “Rosie’s Rules” returns with Volume 13. The PBS KIDS series continues following Rosie Fuentes as her curiosity about the world around her leads to plenty of questions, discoveries and, naturally, new things to learn.
This time around, Rosie is getting into the spirit of competition with a rodeo cowgirl contest, heading into the kitchen for a tamale cook-off and even discovering what happens when she gets to spend a day as Mayor. Like so many of Rosie’s adventures, everyday experiences become opportunities to explore family, community and the world around her.
Once younger viewers are tucked into bed, September also has plenty waiting for the grown-ups and older members of the family.
Mystery fans can return to the world of “Magpie Murders” with “Marble Hall Murders.” Susan Ryeland once again finds herself pulled into the mysteries surrounding fictional detective Atticus Pünd, with a decades-old case on the Greek island of Corfu becoming tangled with a troubling family secret in the present.
Judith, Suzie and Becks are getting back to solving crimes as well when “The Marlow Murder Club” returns for Season 3. Their rather unconventional approach to investigating will once again be put to use alongside DI Tanika Malik’s team as another string of high-profile murders gives the group new mysteries to unravel.
Later in the month, viewers looking for a more dramatic watch can find “Trespasses,” a forbidden love story set in Northern Ireland in 1975 during the Troubles. The series follows a young schoolteacher whose affair becomes increasingly dangerous as tensions surrounding her continue to rise.
PBS’ September offerings consequently provide something for different parts of the family—and different parts of the day. “Rosie’s Rules” can fill an afternoon with colorful adventures for younger viewers before PBS Masterpiece takes over later in the evening with mysteries and dramas for the adults.
PBS Documentaries and PBS Living also continue to offer additional programming through their respective Prime Video subscription channels, giving families even more to explore depending on what everyone happens to be in the mood for.
There may still be some warm days ahead, but fall is coming. With cooler afternoons, darker evenings and more time spent together indoors on the horizon, September is a pretty good time to start building that family watch list.
