Disney Releases Trailer for Anticpated “Dragon Striker”

The heat is rising this June on Disney XD with the long-awaited arrival of the all-new animated action fantasy series, Dragon Striker.

Blending high-energy sports action with fantasy storytelling, Dragon Striker is shaping up to be a bold new addition to the animation landscape. Inspired heavily by both modern animation and Japanese anime, the series follows an underdog hero and his team as they push themselves toward victory while uncovering dangerous secrets and dark forces lurking beneath the surface of their world.

Now, after months of anticipation, fans have received their first proper look at the highly anticipated series through its debut trailer.

In a world where sports and magic combine, farm boy Key discovers his ultra-powerful natural talent and learns he could be the legendary Dragon Striker. Set at Kal Asterock, an elite school for students who possess extraordinary abilities, Key joins goalkeeper Ssyelle on a scrappy new team to challenge the school champions. As he struggles with the raging dragon inside him and Ssyelle fights to hold her team together, they learn dark secrets of the past and uncover an ancient evil.

The series features a talented voice cast including Akshay Kumar as Key, Rebecca LaChance as Ssyelle, Yeukayi Ushe as Milo, Waylon Jacobs as Odward, and Evanna Lynch as Amelie.

Beyond its strong cast, the creative team behind the project also brings together an impressive range of international animation talent spanning productions across America, France, and Japan. The series is co-created and executive produced by Sylvain Dos Santos, known for work on Droners, alongside co-creator and director Charles Lefebvre. Serving as head writer is Paul McKeown.

That passion for animation and storytelling appears deeply embedded into the production itself, helping give Dragon Striker a distinct visual and emotional identity.

On June 9th, all eleven episodes of the series will premiere on Disney XD in a special broadcast marathon beginning at 5 p.m. EST. The full season will then arrive on both Disney+ and Hulu the following day. Ahead of the premiere, a collection of animated shorts set within the world of Dragon Striker will begin rolling out on May 13th across Disney+, Disney XD, and the official Disney Channel Animation YouTube channel.

Though audiences are only beginning to discover the characters, lore, and larger world of Dragon Striker, the series already appears poised to stand out as one of the summer’s most ambitious new animated releases. With its fantasy edge, underdog spirit, anime-inspired style, and emotionally driven storytelling, Dragon Striker has all the ingredients needed to resonate strongly with a new generation of animation fans.

And if the early footage is any indication, this may only be the beginning of its rise.
