Mall staple Build-A-Bear Workshop has been a true hallmark for generations of kids, as they excitedly ventured into their local shopping centers to create their beary own best friend.
While the popular toy brand is often associated with its ever-growing collection of cute, cuddly plush and endless customization options, this childhood classic has expanded far beyond physical playtime. From the nostalgic Build-A-Bearville online game—where players could create avatars and care for digital versions of their plush while interacting with a dynamic online world and beloved characters—Build-A-Bear has long embraced imaginative storytelling in new formats.
Perhaps most notably, this expansion includes its animated projects. Thus far, Build-A-Bear has released two holiday-driven animated specials centered around characters from its seasonal line-up: Hal and Holly Moose: Our Uplifting Christmas and the more recent Glisten and the Merry Mission. Both serve as perfect holiday films to unwind with.
And while we adore—and annually revisit—all of the animated wonders Build-A-Bear has created, we couldn’t help but rejoice at the news that more adventures from this beloved company are on the way. Enter the brand-new thirteen-episode YouTube series, Kabu.
Designed to feel like a warm hug from a colorful, character-filled world, Kabu transports viewers to Kabuville — a bright, welcoming place built on pure “PAWsitivity.” This lovable group of young stuffed animal friends with “heart” navigate the ups and downs of growing up, including friendship, challenges, disagreements, and responsibilities, with each episode exploring relatable situations that the furry friends work through as a group to always find a “collaBEARative,” sometimes silly, solution.
Launching on December 26 at 7:00 a.m. EST on the official Build-A-Bear YouTube channel, fans can embark on new adventures alongside familiar faces from their favorite must-stop-by shop. In step with the new series, a brand-new range of plush animals will also release globally, allowing fans to bring their new friends from the screen into their hands.
- Bearnice – A shy, sweet, soft-spoken bear who sees the good in everyone, but her fiery side sparks fast, especially around her twin brother, Bearnard.
- Bearnard – Bearnice’s fun-loving twin is outgoing, sports-obsessed, and chief irritator, yet always the first to support her when it counts.
- Bearemy – The self-declared “oldest friend” is full of clever, unusual insights. An old soul: sophisticated, never snobbish.
- Catrina – A matter-of-fact cat whose stubborn streak never gets in the way of kindness. Meticulous and methodical, she loves any kind of game.
- Catlynn – A free-spirited, independent kitten all about sports and staying active. Confident on the field, but her social skills can sometimes be…awkward.
- Monkgomery – Sweet, smiley, and the source of occasional monkey business. A loyal prankster with sharp humor who always shows up for his friends.
- Pawlette – A natural leader who loves adding beauty wherever she goes. Positive and motivating, she loves creating and a good story.
- Pandemona – A rebellious punk-rock panda, songwriter, and musician. Beneath the edge is someone who gets deep into her feelings. Not available as a plush.

Poodella – A poised puppy scientist devoted to her lab and inventions. Brilliant and a bit self-conscious, she’s thoughtful and driven. Not available as a plush.
