Wish Dragon is being released by Netflix next month and the story is based around a dragon that can grant wishes as Din searches for a lost friend. Din is a college student who has big dreams and when he meets up with Long the all powerful dragon things are going to get interesting. The newer Netflix movies have been pretty good so we are hopeful that Wish Dragon puts together a fun story with some good animation.

Based on the pictures though, it doesn’t seem like there is a lot going on with the backgrounds and Long seems a little more simplistic than we would like, but hopefully that is just because we are looking at still pictures. It is interesting though that it is being released just a few months after something similar in Raya and the Last Dragon even if the setting and story are not similar. We are loving the voice cast though, which you can read about.

Update: We tracked down some of the animated scenes and they are not leaving me with that amazing feeling so we hope the story carries it.

You can check out Wish Dragon on June 11th streaming on Netflix.

WISH DRAGON (June 11)
Director: Chris Appelhans

Voice Cast: John Cho, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jimmy Wong, Constance Wu, Will Yun Lee, Jimmy O’Yang, Aaron Yoo, Bobby Lee, Ronnie Chieng

In Sony Pictures Animation’s Wish Dragon, Din, a working-class college student with big dreams but small means, and Long, a cynical but all-powerful dragon capable of granting wishes, set off on a hilarious adventure through modern day Shanghai in pursuit of Din’s long-lost childhood friend, Lina. Their journey forces them to answer some of life’s biggest questions – because when you can wish for anything, you have to decide what really matters.

You can find some more pictures of the Netflix animated movie Wish Dragon as we wait for a trailer.

Have three kids, two boys (18 and 16) and a girl (12). I had a grandfather that watched cartoons and read the Sunday funnies until he passed. I feel the same way and continue to watch the Disney channel in my 40s. Check out our BSCKids youtube channel Current favorite show is Amphibia.
