High School Musical: The Musical: The Series may seem confusing at first as it is set as the “real-life” East High, where the original DCOM movie was filmed and it will follow their story to the opening night of their school’s production of “High School Musical.” It will feature some docu-style elements as well as some meta references as it takes on the classic. This seems like a great way to reboot the series and make it a bit interesting and different for the fans or the original and new fans will probably go back and watch the DCOM now as well.
The cast of the show has another Andi Mack alum with Sofia Wylie playing the role of Gina. We also have Joshua Bassett as Ricky, Olivia Rodrigo as Nina, Kate Reinders as Miss Jenn, Matt Cornett as EJ, Dara Renee as Kourtney, Julia Lester as Ashlyn, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Carlos, Larry Saperstein as Big Red, Mark St. Cyr as Mr. Mazzara as well as other members playing smaller roles.
