 Supermarket Stakeout
Host Alex Guarnaschelli, as seen on Supermarket Stakeout, Season 1.

Supermarket Stakeout sounds like a really fun series that will premiere on Food Network on August 13th with host Alex Guarnaschelli. Four chefs are going to have to find a way to get shoppers groceries and then complete and assigned theme in a challenge round so as not to be sent home. The chefs will not know what is inside the shoppers bags they will need to negotiate with a budget of $500 to win the three rounds of challenges. There will be a rotating panel of judges that will determine the winners and the winner of each episode will win “enough cash for a year’s worth of groceries.”

Supermarket Stakeout – New Series Premieres Tuesday, August 13th at 10pm ET/PT

Alex Guarnaschelli hosts as four chefs square off in a competitive pop-up kitchen outside a grocery store. Assigned a theme for each round, the chefs must size up shoppers as they exit the store and attempt to negotiate for their grocery bags. The judges send the chefs with the least successful dishes home, and the last chef standing walks away with a year’s worth of groceries.

Supermarket Stakeout looks to be a great concept and sounds like it will be not only about the cooking but about the purchasing of ingredients, the chefs will need to have some verbal skills. Round one has the chefs purchasing ingredients by “blindly ambushing customers outside the store and negotiating for their grocery bags without knowing the contents.” In round two they “can only purchase groceries from a single shopper, but may look through the bags before negotiating the price.” Round three, the final round, ” competitors may purchase five ingredients total, but can approach as many shoppers as it takes to get what they need.” There should be some interesting dishes in the first round, since the chefs will not really know what they are getting themselves into. Looking forward to Supermarket Stakeout on Food Network.

Mother of three. That does not include the dog or my husband either! We have a full household of fun and we just love trying new products of all varieties. May not watch as many kids shows as the rest of the family though.
