“Just Roll With It” On Disney Channel – Hit Or Miss?

Just Roll With It On Disney Channel is a new show coming in June and it follows in the path of other improvisational comedy shows for kids that are cropping up these days. The Walk The Prank team is working on this one and that show has been a big hit with kids of many different age ranges. From what we know how will Just Roll With It stack up?

We love the idea of the audience voting on the way the scene will go when they heard that special sound (foghorn) and this is what makes the show unique. So as the show is going on, there will be this special sound that will then allow the audience to vote on how the key scene is going to play out and the cast just has to “roll with it” during the scene as they will not know what is coming next. This seems like it will be really fun as the show starts, we just have some reservations on how this is going to work on a continued level. What we do know is that kids do like controlling things, so having some input directly into the show (or watching others have that input) will be something that they will be interested in.

This is a show we are going to have to wait and see on as we just can’t decide if the unique aspect of the show is going to hinder it or not as we get a few episodes in. We are hoping that they can make it work and we can get attached to the family and the show not just the gimmick. The overall story has preteen stepsiblings Blair and Owen trying to get through life as they adjust to the new family dynamic as well as their sibling who may be a little different from who they are. It sounds like there are going to be a lot of different personalities trying to mesh together and that will make for some interesting situations. We also love that Blair’s mother is a military veteran as kids with similar parents will be able to see situations that they might be having in their life as well.

When the actors return to the stage, they have no idea what’s coming at them. A feat of planning and physical production each episode, the comedy series was created and is executive produced by Adam Small and Trevor Moore (Disney’s “Walk the Prank”) with a production crew led by Skot Bright (Disney’s “Walk the Prank”). “Just Roll With It” will be previewed FRIDAY, JUNE 14 (9:45-10:15 p.m. EDT/PDT), before its official premiere WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19 (8:00-8:30 p.m. EDT/PDT), on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW.

The show does have an interesting cast with Tobie Windham from Walk The Prank as well as a bunch of other cast members that we are not too familiar with. We look forward to how they all work together in this interesting take on the family sitcom.

“Just Roll With It” stars Tobie Windham (“Walk the Prank”) as Byron Blatt, Suzi Barrett (Upright Citizens Brigade, Disney’s “Kirby Buckets”) as Rachel Bennett-Blatt, Ramon Reed (“The Lion King”) as Owen Blatt and Kaylin Hayman (“One Day at a Time”) as Blair Bennett. Recurring cast members include Candace Kozak as Owen and Blair’s school friend, Ruth Booth; Michael Lanahan as the school’s principal Mr. Penworth; and J.C. Currais as “The Gator.”
