Doofus Drake, the reboot, was introduced to us in “Day of the Only Child!” in the new version of DuckTales and we don’t really know what to think.
Reboots are what they are, reboots and this gives the writers opportunity to place their own stamps on characters as well as situations. We got to see that in the new DuckTales when they introduced Darkwing Duck in “Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!” as a fictional characters played by actor Jim Starling. While this feels like it closed the door on a Darkwing Duck series as we imagined it, we appreciated the nod to the show and were able to move on. Were You Disappointed With How They Handled Darkwing Duck On DuckTales?
Doofus Drake though…

Doofus Drake though, something just hurts me a little more here. Below is how we have remembered our Junior Woodchuck friend. His positive attitude no matter what is going on and his strong friendship bond to Launchpad and Louie, Dewey, Huey made him a great addition to the show. We loved Doofus and all the fun quirkiness he brought to the show even with all of his faults.

The team has rebooted Doofus in a way that makes us just not like him very much. He is a rich spoiled brat who treats people like objects and even has his parents working for him as servants. This all comes bout because his grandmother was rich and Doofus inherited her fortune which pushes him to become a jerk. How his parents got passed over and all them money went to Doofus is interesting, but this character just has no redeeming qualities we have seen from this episode.
From hero to villain is a drastic change, and we enjoy the new DuckTales, but this one hurt us. R.I.P Doofus Drake the Junior Woodchuck, you will be fondly remembered.
