Were You Disappointed With How They Handled Darkwing Duck On DuckTales?

DarkWing Duck In DuckTales Reboot

The fact that Darkwing Duck was on an episode is not a spoiler, but that role that he plays still may be, so proceed at your own risk.

So the good part is that we not only get Darkwing Duck, but we also get Quackerjack, Liquidator and Megavolt pulling off a heist. The Darkwing humor is there, the action is there, but the reality is not. In the new DuckTales universe aging actor Jim Starling plays the role of Darkwing Duck and Drake Mallard in the television show, Darkwing Duck. Queue the disappointment as this means we will not get a universe where DuckTales and Darkwing Duck are together in the same reality at least where Darkwing Duck is a real hero.

Yes we get that the show is called DuckTales, but why not leave the door open for a return of Darkwing to his own show? What we have done is, in our opinion, shut that door closed shut. With the fact that DuckTales is doing so well, this could have been an interesting new show to make a return. What we also are starting to worry about now, is the rumored TaleSpin link to DuckTales going to be something similar? We sure how not because we were super pumped to see Don Karnage and the Air Pirates video. We are hoping that they will end up being part of the actual universe. That will then beg the question, if TaleSpin why not Darkwing Duck? Especially since we have cross over characters already established between DuckTales and Darkwing Duck. A bit of a disappointment we also didn’t get to see Gosalyn Mallard make a return, but it was nice seeing the old animation style they used to symbolize it being on television. LOVE the S.H.U.S.H. billboard as well.

Now the only thing that “could happen” that would bring Darkwing back would be if Jim Starling is really Darkwing Duck and he uses the television show to just throw people off of his secret identity. This is not very likely, but it would be a way to bring the character back to the show and would be a HUGE twist to throw us off the trail. Fingers crossed.

Here is an animatic to how they introduced Darkwing Duck on the new series episode “DuckTales – Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!” and is a neat way to look at the work that goes into making the show. Jump over to social media to let us know what you think about Darkwing Duck in the new series. We would love to see Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, DuckTales, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers all linked together into one big universe.

Have three kids, two boys (18 and 16) and a girl (12). I had a grandfather that watched cartoons and read the Sunday funnies until he passed. I feel the same way and continue to watch the Disney channel in my 40s. Check out our BSCKids youtube channel Current favorite show is Amphibia.
